We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist.

Principal responsibilities

  • Front to back ownership of delivery of a product (from requirement to production)
  • Provides value during production incidents even for things that they haven't necessarily been involved in coding
  • Subject Matter Expertise in an area such as: devops, security, accessibility, agile, production governance etc
  • Ability to break down a programme of work into manageable deliveries
  • Hands-on Java, Database & Linux design and development experience and ideally a Java SME, especially in Database design and tuning area.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to understand the key business pain points, guide the development team to come up effective technical solution
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to explain technical options, provide professional recommendations and facilitate decision making
  • Have experience in micro service design and implementation
  • Have experience in Cloud related design and implementtation
  • Results-oriented; takes responsibility and gets the job done
  • Self-driven; can work without close supervision
  • Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, English speaking, reading and writing skill
  • Experienced to provide L3 support to address any overnight batch jobs related issue for critical business processes
  • Has a technical vision and can define a strategy of how to change a product to reach the vision
  • Ability to step into the Production Support Management (PSM) role
  • Helps remove impediments to team's productivity
  • Builds trusted relationships with the business and has a good appreciation of the business domain they work in

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years relevant working experience in Java, Node.js, Database, Linux and open source Frameworks.
  • Proficient with micro service architecture, live-live design, spring cloud solution, API gateway/authentication.
  • Proficient with Java and server-side web or cloud based development, using Java EE, Spring (Batch, Integration, MVC), Spring-Boot, Hibernate/JPA, Mybatis
  • Proficient with automation CI/CD tooling, Jenkins pipeline, Building tool Maven/Gradle/NPM, Repository Nexus, Deployment tool G3/ansible
  • Proficient with database / data driven web or cloud based applications. Key technologies: SQL (Oracle/Postgrel), other lightweight DB such as H2 for testing.
  • Knowledge and experience in new Java technologies, JavaRX, Vert.x, Netty/webflux.
  • Knowledge and experience in non-SQL databases, such as MongoDB, Redis, InfluxDB.
  • Knowledge and experience in Agility developing methods, such as Scrum, Kanban.
  • Windows, DOS scripting or Linus shell script
  • Development experience with OO design and design patterns. Ability to develop in all tiers of the application (presentation, business and database)
  • Experience in Database design and Oracle/SQL performance tuning/Optimization
  • Familiar with or able to rapidly adapt to HSBC organizational policies, practices and standards
  • Proactive and willing to learn new technologies, e.g. big data, Cloud
  • Knowledge and experience in micro services
  • Develops talent within the team and helps create opportunities for junior team members
  • Ability to build a case explaining benefits to address technical debt / platform improvement
  • Chairs retros across different teams
  • Communicate clearly with others - summarise ideas without getting lost in detail
