We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist.

Business: IWPB Technology

Principal responsibilities

  • Architecture Strategy & Roadmaps:
    • Define target and transitional architectures for Private Banking CRM and related ecosystems (Java services, Power Platform, data, integration, security).
    • Produce and maintain architectural roadmaps, capability maps, and evolution plans aligned to business outcomes and regulatory mandates.
    • Conduct option analyses (cost, risk, scalability, extensibility) and present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Solution Design & Governance:
    • Lead end-to-end solution architecture for new initiatives: context, container/service decomposition (C4), integration contracts, data flows, non-functional requirements.
    • Establish and enforce architecture standards (API versioning, event & data modeling, security patterns, resilience, observability).
    • Run design reviews and govern adherence to reference architectures, technical policies, and regulatory controls (data residency, audit, entitlements).
  • Integration & API Architecture:
    • Define integration patterns (REST, event-driven, messaging, microservices boundaries) and ensure consistent application across squads.
    • Oversee API portfolio lifecycle: classification, reuse, deprecation, performance, and security posture; drive optimization (latency, throughput, error budgets).
    • Guide interoperability between Java services, Power Platform components (custom connectors, Dataverse schemas), and legacy/external systems.
  • Power Platform Architectural Oversight:
    • Architect governance for environments, solution segmentation, Dataverse data models, connector design, and ALM alignment with enterprise standards.
    • Ensure secure, scalable low-code integrations that complement engineered services without duplicative logic or data silos.
  • Non-Functional Engineering & Risk Mitigation:
    • Define and validate non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience, security, observability).
    • Champion threat modeling, secure design, data classification handling, and compliance traceability.
    • Drive architectural risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation where residual risk exceeds thresholds.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Advise engineering leads on design trade-offs, refactoring strategies, and modernization sequencing.
    • Mentor architects and senior engineers in modeling techniques, integration patterns, and quality by design practices.
    • Facilitate cross-functional alignment (product, data, security, infrastructure, compliance) to remove structural delivery impediments.
  • Standards, Patterns & Reuse:
    • Curate reusable patterns (authN/authZ flows, caching, error handling, telemetry, connector templates) reducing build duplication and improving consistency.
    • Promote architecture decision records (ADRs) and structured documentation to enable transparency and onboarding efficiency.
  • Quality & Support Readiness:
    • Validate solution designs for operational readiness (runbooks alignment, tracing, capacity baselines, failover strategy).
    • Support major incident post-mortems with architectural remediation inputs and systemic improvement recommendations.

Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years progressive experience in solution / software architecture within regulated financial services; prior hands-on engineering background (Java/API).
  • Strong expertise in API and integration architecture (REST, event-driven, messaging, microservices patterns, contract design).
  • Practical Power Platform architectural governance (Dataverse modeling, custom connectors, environment & ALM strategy).
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture (Azure preferred; AWS beneficial), security patterns (identity, encryption, secrets management), and container/microservices concepts (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Skilled in modeling (UML, C4, sequence/data flow diagrams), architectural documentation, and decision recording.
  • Solid understanding of non-functional engineering (performance, resilience, reliability, observability) and regulatory/compliance requirements (audit, data residency).
  • Experience establishing and governing architecture standards and conducting design reviews across multiple squads.
  • Strong stakeholder management and concise communication skills; ability to translate complex technical trade-offs into business impact.
  • Mentoring capability for architects/engineers; promotes reusable patterns and reduced technical debt.
  • Private Banking / CRM domain knowledge (client lifecycle, suitability, data confidentiality).
  • Certifications desirable: TOGAF / cloud (Azure) / security / Power Platform / Java.
