We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering.

Principal responsibilities
This role will carry out some or all of the following activities:
- Work closely with local business and IT teams on various projects and support items, coordinate among local business/IT and regional delivery teams
- Provide support across the end-to-end delivery and run lifecycle, utilizing their skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities with the ability to move between these according to demand.
- End to end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey
- The Associate Director is accountable to provide technology services for responsible ASP markets with agreed outcome and maintain trustworthy relationship with market CIOs.
- Provide technical leadership across the delivery and run lifecycle by the team in Technology Centre. Enable the team to best utilize their skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities typically being deployed to resolve the most challenging and/or impactful projects and deliverables.
- Create a vibrant Engineering Culture and build up a high performing team. Responsible for the people management including setting objectives, performance management and calibration, pay and reward decisions, career development, talent management and succession decisions for the team
- Ensure optimization and efficiency in collaboration with concerned stakeholder in delivery of the program across system and operations change, training and communication.
- Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered according to group standard.
- Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable.
- Manage and deploy effective risk management strategies to ensure the risks, issues and dependencies are continuously accessed and communicated. Ensure action and ownership against issues, to minimize impact.
- Ensure the delivery pipeline is connected with financials and within capacity.
- Monitor & control the portfolio investment allocation, benefit projection and commercialization tracking, and ensure they are captured in standard tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related fields
- More than 8 years’ technical skills and experience in in IT with solid knowledge on application development and support.
- Experience in API development, has knowledge in HSBC API development standards.
- 15+ years technology experience, with “Hands on” engineering background with experience in an individual contributor engineering role
- People manager and broad experience in managing teams of different work streams
- Strong leadership skills, team-builder and influencer
- Understanding of banking / HSBC and understanding of how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders
- Experience in working Agile environment with a strong focus on developing engineering solutions
- Proven ability to drive developer productivity improvement – through automation and advanced technical skills
- Proven track record in effective stakeholder management. Strong customer focus and effective in managing business relationships
- Ability to think laterally and innovatively and find creative solutions, with a proactive approach to problem solving and delivery
- Ability to understand business issues and devise solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where appropriate and making connections to other issues
- Great attention to detail and an ability to identify and manage risk
- Strong management of Operational, Financial crime and Cyber Risk
