We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering.

Principal responsibilities

• AI/ML technology evolution focus: stays current on applied Artificial Intelligence (including Generative AI) and identifies practical opportunities to embed AI into engineering and SDLC workflows (e.g., intelligent automation, improved observability, developer productivity), while maintaining engineering quality.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple complex customer experience and platform initiatives, from initiation and design through to release and post-implementation review.
• Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Process Designers, IT and Digital teams across geographies to produce delivery estimates, plans and execution roadmaps.
• Strong delivery governance: meticulous tracking of scope, milestones, dates, dependencies, budgets, and benefits.
• Define and embed the Agile delivery approach, enabling adaptive planning, continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes across delivery teams.
• Proactively manage risks, issues and dependencies—removing blockers and ensuring delivery remains on track for time, cost and quality.
• Build strong stakeholder alignment through clear governance, robust communications and effective workshop facilitation to drive timely decision-making.

Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications

• Solid IT understanding with strong Tech Background; exposure to Engineering, mobile, AWS/GCP, IAM, PI Planning, and security domains (authentication/authorisation, API/mobile security) is an advantage; solution-oriented leadership in matrix teams.
• Strong stakeholder management across internal (HSBC) and external parties, with clear written and spoken English communication.
• Experience in AI/ML technology : stays current on applied Artificial Intelligence (including Generative AI) and identifies practical opportunities to embed AI into engineering and SDLC workflows (e.g., intelligent automation, improved observability, developer productivity), while maintaining engineering quality.
• Proven delivery track record using Agile methods across complex programmes/projects in a multinational corporate environment with global teams.
• Advanced Jira proficiency, including custom dashboards and reporting.
• Create, track and report timelines, budgets, backlog, velocity and quality during the entire life of the project, managing issues and risks as they occur including escalating when appropriate.
