We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Data and Analytics.

Principal responsibilities

  • Platform Architecture & Design:
    Lead the design and architecture of a robust, automated data retention platform leveraging Google Cloud services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Composer, Airflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions).
  • End-to-End Engineering:
    Drive the full engineering lifecycle: requirements gathering, hands-on coding, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Automation & Orchestration:
    Develop automation scripts and workflows for data retention, archival, and deletion, ensuring compliance with HSBC’s data policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Monitor platform performance, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Documentation & Best Practices:
    Produce clear technical documentation, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices in cloud engineering and DevOps.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:
    10+ years in platform development, with at least 5 years on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    Strong proficiency in Python
    Deep understanding of GCP services: BigQuery, Cloud Composer Airflow, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, IAM, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions.
    Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Data Management:
    Solid grasp of data retention, lifecycle management, 
    Experience building automated data pipelines and implementing data governance controls.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers.
    Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
  • DevOps & Automation:
    Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated testing frameworks.
