We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Analyst, BCO CoE.

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end credit application process: Prepare credit applications supported by rigorous analysis of financial statements, projections/modelling, industry and competitor research, and relevant market intelligence.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers: Understand transaction structures, lending purposes and repayment sources, and support the structuring of appropriate short- and long-term credit solutions.
  • Assess and mitigate risk: Identify key risks, ensure proposals align with internal credit policies and guidelines as well as applicable regulatory requirements, and recommend appropriate risk mitigants.
  • Manage and monitor a portfolio: Track compliance with financial and non-financial covenants and terms, monitor credit quality trends, and support proactive credit management actions.
  • Collaborate across HSBC: Build effective working relationships with Wholesale Credit Risks, product teams and enabling functions (e.g., operations, legal, credit services) to support execution and ongoing facility management.
  • Drive process excellence: Deliver work to agreed timelines and quality standards; suggest improvements to workflow, efficiency and credit quality.
  • Contribute to team capability (depending on experience): Support quality checks, mentoring and training of new joiners.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related discipline (exceptional Bachelor’s candidates may be considered).
  • Experience: Typically 1–6 years’ experience in credit analysis, wholesale lending or relevant corporate finance is preferred. Outstanding fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds and a clear interest in developing in credit analytics are also welcome.
  • Core credit skills: Strong grounding in accounting, financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, credit assessment and risk identification/mitigation. Ability to process large volumes of information and distil key issues.
  • Communication: Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills; excellent written and verbal English, including the ability to produce high-quality credit papers in English.
  • Organisation: Strong prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables with attention to detail.
  • Tools: Strong proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge add-ons (preferred): Awareness of sector drivers and market trends; basic knowledge of commercial banking products is an advantage.
