We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of AVP Underwriting and Credit Operations, Operations Support and Strategic Initiatives.

 

Principal responsibilities

Strategy-to-execution in ambiguous environments

  • Lead problem structuring and options analysis where requirements are unclear; land recommendations and convert them into actionable delivery plans (scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks).
  • Drive progress through disciplined follow-ups, escalation management, and decision capture.

Transformation of underwriting operations

  • Champion and support change and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer experience.
  • Partner with global, regional, and market teams to support end-to-end lending originations transformation initiatives.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation mindset; identify opportunities through analytics, process reviews, and performance insights.
  • Scan externally for tools/technologies/best practices that can improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes.

Run-the-Bank (RTB) governance & performance reporting

  • Support effective running of the apex monthly governance forum by providing a comprehensive view of:
  • Operational performance (KPIs/KRIs)
  • Change roadmap and delivery status
  • Establish effective reporting disciplines; provide concise, timely updates on plans, progress, issues, and successes.

Business and financial management (AOP / cost)

  • Engage with GSC site heads to build and manage the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for underwriting operations.
  • Maintain oversight on costs and support delivery of productivity improvements and cost saves.

People engagement & capability uplift

  • Support design and delivery of training/refresher programmes to improve performance and meet quality standards.
  • Support implementation of employee development & engagement programmes (career/skills, reward & recognition, retention, talent management, succession planning).

Stakeholder management & cross-boundary collaboration

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure work progresses at pace.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with Product, Credit Risk, Digital Business Services (DBS), Transformation and Technology.
  • Ensure effective engagement with GSC stakeholders to enable support architecture (desking, IT, HR, Finance, etc.).

Operational risk & controls

  • Maintain robust operational risk and controls standards, including timely implementation of internal/external audit points and regulator issues.

 

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working in a multi-matrixed organisation engaging with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong capability for working across cultures and geographies.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills to craft and execute structured, hypothesis-driven analysis.
  • Change management / transformation capability; project management and process reengineering/streamlining experience.
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task across multiple strategic, high-priority initiatives.
  • Ability to rapidly form effective relationships and influence at senior levels.
  • Preferred (aligned to the standard role profile)
  • ~10 years’ experience managing a Credit Risk function, preferably underwriting.
  • Deep knowledge of credit origination processes end-to-end.
  • Operational experience resolving operational challenges.

Language & communication requirements

  • Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese and English (spoken and written).
  • Able to communicate in a BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) approach for senior stakeholders (clear recommendation, rationale, and asks).

 

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
