We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the MSS Operations, GIFT City, India team.
Job Introduction
Function as Global Markets Operations Lead in HSBC GIFT City branch and provide day to day support to Global Markets business.
Principal Responsibilities
- Provide day to day oversight to Operations activities pertaining to GM business in GIFT onshore as well as activities carried out in GSC / Third Party.
- Ensure Operations activities are carried out in compliance with applicable regulations and Global Mandatory Practices.
- Keep aged Risk Indicator items under check. Where required collaborate with concerned team to bring traction and closure.
- Ensure compliance to regulations by developing good understanding of regulations and laws as mandated by IFSCA, SEBI, RBI, and other authorities.
- Carry out responsibilities of Third Party Engagement Manager. Ensure periodic review with various Third Party teams supporting GIFT City. Represent MSS Operations in various governance forum.
- Coach and develop other staff in the team. Guide them through available learning material to develop their skills.
- Where responsible, ensure all regulatory reporting are performed within expected timelines.
- Provide suggestions and assist in streamlining processes and workflows.
- Participate in new product and system related discussion and be Operations face in such discussion.

- Build and display culture of speak up and timely escalation.
- Roleholder should be comfortable to operate in a matrix organisation.
- Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy
- Timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
- Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer.
- To thoroughly understand financial products / derivatives with particular reference to operations, settlements, documentation and risk management in the context of the regulatory environment and Group objectives.
- Role holder should constantly review existing procedures & processes & streamline them in the benefits of higher throughput, accuracy and control.
Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:
HSBC Markets has to operate in an environment which is highly controlled and regulated through numerous laws and regulations. The jobholder is guided by the MSS GMP, IFSCAs Conduct of Business Handbook and various guidelines issued from time to time including those issued by RBI and SEBI as applicable.
Experience and Educational Qualification - Role holder should carry an experience of 8 years and should be a CA or Masters in relevant stream.
Role holder needs to bring in a sharp risk and control mentality to work.
The thinking challenge in the job is to suggest ways to streamline workflows to cut processing time without compromising on controls.
Eligibility Criteria: India Bank / INM employees will be eligible to apply to this role after completion of 12 months in the current role/position at the time of application on level transfer and/or promotion.
