We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Insurance Underwriting Specialist.

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Perform underwriting assessment and review the suggested cases from junior underwriters on both medical/non-medical cases
  • Monitor the processing of New Business and underwriting to ensure SLA is committed in good quality
  • Develop and implement underwriting and operational framework, policies, procedure guidelines
  • Acting as the leading role of optimizing the Underwriting processing on regular basis. Conduct exceptional reporting, investigate and resolve discrepancies by collaborating with stakeholders (finance, operations, IT, etc) to ensure fulfillment of internal and external guideline and regulatory requirement.
  • Prepare comprehensive management reports with analytical result and observation.  Ensure timely escalation if any adnormal and follow with related reporting protocol accordingly.
  • Responsible for reviewing operation’s quality performance. Enhance and streamline the end to end processing journey. Have the capability to review related customer correspondence and revamp to ensure an effective external communication and enhance the customer journey.
  • Deliver on process re-engineering automation which will facilitate in reducing turn-around time and drive operational efficiency.
  • Drive staff development through soft skill training, personal development plans and performance management reviews.
  • To implement company programs, manage the team performance and initiate improvement initiatives in order to provide quality service to customers and improve operation efficiency
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators, accompanied by the appropriate internal control standards relevant to the role
  • Monitoring ‘Service Quality’ of the team to ensure high Customer Service Standards and drive rigorous customer centric quality Campaigns/initiatives to increase Quality awareness in the team.  
  • Recognize, reward and set high internal service excellence benchmarks to ensure customer satisfaction.

 

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Insurance Full Underwriting experiences and medical standard authority or above and 1 years related Business Management experience,with exposure to appraisals, counseling, team building, and staff development
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT. Capability of workflow and procedure writer.
  • A Strong self-motivation and ability to work under pressure and strong job commitment
  • Able to work in an agile environment
  • A proactive and positive mind-set.
  • Leadership and coaching skills, with ability to build rapport with, relate to and effectively develop a wide range of people
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in Chinese and English
  • Good analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and to the highest level of accuracy and accountability
  • Ability to work under pressure, both autonomously and within a team and consistently meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to build rapport and engender trust
