The role of the Retirement Advice Consultant is to provide specialist financial advice with personal recommendations to HSBC customers requiring retirement advice and guidance.

 

This role is pivotal to the HSBC Specialist Retirement Advice proposition in providing analyses and technical advice in-line with the required Company and regulatory standards for pension switching and ‘At’ retirement advice.

 

You will analyse and write financial planning reports in relation to pension switching and retirement options, ensuring that the required customer outcomes are delivered. These reports will then be presented by the Bank’s customer facing Wealth Managers (WMs).

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Undertaking appropriate analysis of customers’ existing pensions, providing regulated financial advice on pension switching and retirement options.
  • Communicating advice through the preparation of technically accurate, compliant, customer focused written reports.
  • Sharing best practice and providing guidance to colleagues both within the Centre and other relevant departments, to aid their development and competency.
  • Providing technical support and sign off to the Bank’s Area Wealth Managers (AWMs) and Wealth Managers (WMs)
  • Providing technical assistance to other departments and individuals within Premier & Wealth Distribution
  • Contacting customers by telephone and e-mail to obtain additional information or to confirm understanding of the customer’s needs and objectives.  The role does not involve face-to-face customer contact.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Experience of pension switching and providing retirement advice is highly desirable.
  • Essential: *QCF Level 4 with relevant pension and investment modules must be held, with either a current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS held or confirmation of the ability to apply for SPS
  • A relevant pension transfer specialist qualification in-line with the FCA requirements is preferred (AF7, AF3, G60) but not essential as full training will be provided for the right candidate with a commitment to obtain the relevant qualification within 18 months of starting in the role.
  • Excellent knowledge of customer’s needs, the sales process, advice suitability and the regulatory environment alongside experience of providing advice or para-planning involving writing customer facing reports
  • Flexible & pragmatic with a keen eye for detail with a desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered HSBC customers.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.  

 

This is a hybrid working role with base locations being either Birmingham or Whiteley.
