HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. This role is responsible for ensuring HSBC clients’ funds have accurate tax charges/liabilities, that tax compliance and regulatory filings are completed where appropriate, that fund accounting system tax data is accurate and complete, and that all tax reporting information required by clients is provided accurately and on time for the funds we administer. The role also provides support and insight to internal stakeholders on tax issues/requirements impacting the funds we service/administer.

This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Oversee the provision of an effective, quality service by ensuring that tax reporting and compliance activities for funds administered are delivered on time and to the required standard, reducing client risk to a minimum
- Act as a key point of coordination and interface between Fund Tax Operations teams, Tax Product, IT/Change, NFR Controls, and third-party service providers
- Drive projects and change activities impacting the funds taxation function, including senior representation on project committees and steering groups
- Ensure adherence to established procedures and controls, focusing on reducing exposure and operational risk and strengthening the internal control environment
- Handle complex queries as escalated, ensuring timely resolution and holding final authority on responses for complex day-to-day client/operational queries
- Proactively identify and document new/amended procedures and controls on a timely basis
- Escalate complex issues/concerns with key stakeholders (including Tax Product and Risk) and report compliance breaches, errors and near misses promptly in line with defined escalation procedures
- Provide senior oversight of client deliverables, including agreeing and monitoring workflow, acting as a point of escalation and performing ongoing governance
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Strong knowledge and delivery experience in the fund tax environment/operations (UK funds and preferably AEOI), gained in operations and/or a Group Tax environment
- Proven ability in stakeholder management, building consensus across a diverse set of partners with differing goals (including Fund Tax Operations, Tax Product, IT/Change, NFR Controls and third parties)
- Strong client-facing capability, comfortable dealing with internal and external clients (including operating hubs), owning queries end-to-end and delivering a premium client experience
- Demonstrable strength in risk and governance, including maintaining HSBC internal control standards, ensuring adherence to procedures, and proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating and escalating operational risk (including risks arising from process/technology change)
- Ability to contribute to strategic decision making for operational processes and the fund tax operating model, influencing key decisions and driving business enhancement and growth
