Role purpose
The Network Visualisation Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining the Network Maps. This role will provide a new capability within the Connectivity team to have dynamically created Network diagrams to assist with problem determination and change implementation.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Technical Visibility:
- Ensures that the technology choices made as part of the innovation workstreams can be incorporated in into the Network Maps and Manages iteratively delivers a set of data sources that allow the Network Maps to be generated.
- Ensures that the solution designs are compliant with the requirements to maintain a Network map of the associated services to be introduced and the relationship between Business Services, Applications and Networks services can be maintained.
- Interprets and communicates the information required to maintain the Network Maps to the Network Tooling team and associated platforms to ensure there is a full understanding of the information required to generate the map and how the maps can be used to aid problem investigation.
- Ensures the various pieces of data sources can be used to complete the overall Network Map and ensure there are no components missing from the overall picture, including linkage to Business Services and Applications
- Manages the research and identification of new and future technologies that can be adopted by Connectivity to support the evolution of the Network Maps.
- Network Mapping Governance:
- Manages practical governance activities for Connectivity, such as ensuring any change activity is reflected in the Network Maps
- Manages and evolves the technology to generates the Network Maps and defines data sources used to define the Network Map to maintain the association between Business Services, Applications & Infrastructure.
- Manages and undertakes Network mapping reviews to ensure the maps accurately represent the current state of the Network in relationship to the evolving HSBC business environment.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Maintains close alignment with Transformation, engineering, testing, and solution architecture teams to ensure new technologies can be reflected in the overall picture of the network and communicates the approach within the relevant platform and influence associated roadmaps to maintain the visualisation of the network infrastructure.
• Works with Service Management to build and ensure the linkage between network components and business service exist and are maintained within the CMDB.
Functional Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of Connectivity requirements and group strategy to ensure alignment.
- Comprehensive understanding of state of art technologies, trends and patterns as a means understanding the evolution of the Networks estate.
- Strong influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills, with comprehensive capability to understand the linkage between Business Services, Application, Infrastructure & Networks.
- Comprehensive communication skills and comprehensive capability to adapt verbal and written communications to the appropriate audience to communicate at the right level.
- Strong Vendor Management experience in Networks within an enterprise level organisation is essential
