We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Policy Group AML.
As Head of Policy (Group AML), you will report into the Group Head of AML and FC Strategy and be part of the Leadership Team. The role-holder is accountable for all-AML related policy work, focussing on alignment, consistency in approach, and application of policy best practice with the other risk discipline teams and ensuring that all relevant regulatory requirements are reflected in policies, procedures, standards and any associated guidance.
As Head of Policy in Group AML, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Leading the articulation, development, communication and oversight of AML policy requirements across HSBC Group.
- Lead the annual refresh of the AML aspects of the Group FC Policy and associated requirements; continuously assessing adequacy of the policy, based on revised/new regulatory requirements, legal/regulatory framework developments, risk appetite changes and enforcement actions.
- Providing advice on the Group FC Policy to senior management (including up to executives) in country, region and Global Businesses.
- Line management responsibility for a team of Senior Policy Managers, providing leadership, strategy, oversight, and line management best practice required to meet Group AML policy objectives.
- Proactively staying up to date with developing and emerging threats across the relevant Group AML risk types, for example crypto-assets (digital assets) keeping the Group FC policy requirements and advice forward thinking and relevant.
- Leading and undertaking relevant risk stewardship oversight activities with respect to Group AML policy responsibilities; issuing policy advisory and interpretation notes (where necessary) and participating in, or supporting the development of, training and education across FC and, where relevant, the business.
- Act as the primary point of contact to provide input into, and managing the outcomes of, audit/assurance queries/reports, and external examinations (where required) from a Group AML policy perspective.
- Setting strategic direction and leading in relation to key initiatives in support of ongoing development and optimisation of the Global FC Policy, for example initiatives focused on simplification and business alignment.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Significant AML subject matter expertise within a global Financial Institution, with wider Financial Crime subject matter expertise highly desirable.
- Significant policy and/or procedure drafting experience and understanding. Ability to write clearly and succinctly in English.
- Detailed knowledge of regulations covering AML, AB&C, Tax Transparency, PF and TF; particularly regarding the UK and US.
- Significant leadership experience, with line management experience highly desirable.
- Recognised as an industry SME (through participation/roles in industry groups) will be seen as a significant benefit
- Ability to proactively manage ongoing professional development to stay up to date with latest and emerging money laundering risks and threats.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Experience of dealing effectively with senior management up to and including executives.
- A background or strong understanding of operational risk is also highly desirable.
The base location for this role is UK Wide – With regular travel to the London office required – Hybrid Working
