The Role
In this role you will be required to support the Secured lending portfolios through oversight, monitoring, analysis, and governance that we would include residential mortgages, wealth lending facilities, and climate risk-related activities. The role will assist in portfolio risk management, policy implementation, regulatory compliance, management reporting, and risk analytics to ensure sound credit risk practices and sustainable portfolio growth.
Key Accountabilities:
In this role you will be accountable for:
Mortgage Lending Risk
- Support ongoing monitoring of mortgage portfolio performance, including delinquency trends, vintage analysis, loan-to-value (LTV) movements, debt burden ratio (DBR) trends, and any concentration risks.
- Support portfolio analytics to identify emerging risk trends, geographic concentrations, property market risks, and customer vulnerabilities.
- Support policy reviews and updates in line with regulatory requirements and market developments.
- Assist in post-implementation reviews of underwriting policy changes and risk appetite adjustments.
- Stay abreast with market developments, changes and sentiments.
Wealth Lending Risk
- Monitor risk exposures arising from Lombard lending, securities-backed financing, margin facilities, and other wealth lending products.
- Track collateral quality, concentration risks, margin utilization, and collateral shortfall trends.
Cimate Risk
- Support collection, validation, and reporting of climate-related portfolio metrics.
- Assist in preparing climate risk submissions for regulators, internal committees, and sustainability reporting requirements.
Others
- Work closely with Business, Credit Underwriting, Compliance, Collections, Wealth Management, and Data Analytics teams.
- Support responses to internal audit, regulatory reviews, and external audit requests.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to lending products, risk frameworks, and regulatory initiatives.
- Assist in drafting and maintaining credit policies, underwriting standards, and portfolio management procedures.
- Support preparation of committee papers, risk appetite reports, and governance materials.
- Support periodic policy reviews and gap assessments against industry best practices.
- Assist in documenting risk decisions, exceptions, and portfolio management actions.
- Adheres strictly to all compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC’s and regulatory standards, policies and practices.
In order to apply for this role, you will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Risk Management, Banking, or related discipline. This is required in order to obtain a UAE work permit.
- 1–3 years of experience in retail banking, credit risk, portfolio management, risk analytics, or related functions.
- Exposure to mortgage lending, wealth management, or risk reporting is desirable.
- Understanding UAE banking regulations and retail lending practices is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power point.
- Ability to interpret portfolio performance metrics and risk indicators.
- Understanding of secured lending products and collateral-based financing.
- Familiarity with climate risk concepts, ESG principles, and sustainability frameworks is desirable.
