Job Purpose:
Support the Regulatory Affairs function in managing regulatory engagement and monitoring regulatory developments across the UAE. The role will help ensure that regulatory requirements are understood, communicated and addressed effectively, maintaining clear oversight and promoting a “no surprises” approach in the Bank’s relationships with regulators.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the management of relationships and engagement with UAE regulators, including the DFSA, Central Bank of the UAE, SCA, FSRA and other relevant authorities.
• Assist with the preparation, coordination and follow-up of regulatory meetings, reviews, inspections, investigations and information requests.
• Prepare briefing notes, meeting materials, reports and management information for senior management and key stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of regulatory engagements, including actions, deliverables, correspondence and key emerging themes.
• Monitor proposed and pending regulatory developments and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders across the Bank.
• Support the assessment of regulatory changes, consultation responses and the effective hand-off of implementation activities to relevant risk and business teams.
• Produce compliance reports, MI packs, newsletters and other communications relating to regulatory affairs.
• Maintain HSBC’s internal control standards, identify and escalate operational risks, and support the timely resolution of audit and regulatory findings.
Experience & Qualifications
• A full-time graduation degree of at least three years is essential for obtaining a work permit. For degrees obtained outside the UAE, valid attestations and equivalency are also mandatory.
• 2–5 years’ experience in risk, compliance or regulatory affairs within the financial services industry.
• Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior management and external regulatory contacts.
• Knowledge of UAE regulators, their agendas and regulatory approaches.
• Strong understanding of compliance risks, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
• Experience in stakeholder management, project coordination, operational management and continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical, communication, influencing and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Fluent written and verbal English and Arabic is mandatory.
• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law or a related discipline; relevant accounting or Corporate Secretary qualifications are also considered.
