Role 

 

 

In this role you will be accountable for the end-to-end co-ordination of all fraud-related controls within MENAT IWPB and outsourced to utility within offshore structure. In this role you are accountable to the local Lines of Business, for these controls operating in synchronicity to deliver the level of fraud mitigation, customer experience and operational cost determined by the risk owner.

 

You will be required to provide strategic vision for in scope fraud controls in the MENAT region and report to the Global Head of Fraud for IWPB. Furthermore, you will be responsible for locally driving the global fraud strategy for the effective operation of fraud controls in relation to Data, Analytics, Systems, IT, Investigations and Operations.

 

As the Head of Fraud Management for IWPB MENAT, you will be accountable for the setting and monitoring of performance levels of these controls and the collective delivery of controls to achieve effective management of fraud risk on behalf of Risk Owners.

 

The role is responsible for the provision of 1st Line Defense control performance MI to inform Risk Owner decision and Risk Steward oversight.  

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Locally deploy the global strategy for fraud controls
  • Setting and monitoring performance levels, challenging effectiveness and driving control owners to innovate and improve their controls.
  • Providing stakeholders with advice on the prioritisation of fraud controls as well as an escalation route for ineffective operation.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of in scope controls through the critical assessment of clear and concise management information on the performance of their controls provided by control operators.
  • Advising control operators on prioritisation of potentially divergent and conflicting requirements from a broad range of stakeholders in a BAU context.
  • Accountable to the regional LoBs, for the co-ordination of the controls which deliver the level of fraud mitigation, customer experience and operational cost determined by the risk owner
  • Identify new or enhanced requirements for fraud mitigation controls, working with key stakeholders such as product owners’ transformation teams and Investigations to influence change initiatives that improve the fraud control environment.  
  • Develop, strengthen and leverage external relationships with key public and private sector partners and peers in connection with fraud controls.
  • Chair of regional external and Internal fraud governance that ensures product owners Fraud Operations, Fraud Analytics, Transformation and Risk Stewards stakeholders are providing clear leadership and direction on the operation of fraud controls.
  • Provide strategic ensuring all Fraud Management verticals are aligned and delivering the Global Fraud Strategy.
  • Through action and strong leadership ensures Fraud Management and Operations personnel own and optimize Fraud Monitoring decisions to grow sustainable, risk adjusted profits.
  • Provides sponsorship and strategic vision for People Development initiatives for Fraud Management ensuring the Fraud Controls area attracts, retains and motivates high calibre talent.
  •  Act as the Regional lead for country Fraud Mitigation Strategy teams providing strategic direction and escalation.
  • Represent Fraud Management at formal governance for all aspects of fraud control operation, ensuring senior Line of Business, risk stewards’ stakeholders have a rounded understanding of the effectiveness of the in-scope controls.
  • Provide challenge and escalation for in scope controls that are sub optimal ensuring responsible control owners have robust remediation plans. Maintain close working relationships with stakeholders to ensure controls activities deliver appropriate threat mitigation for fraud risks.
  • Provide Risk Steward’s with SME guidance on controls to assist with setting of Risk Control Library content, Risk Appetite Statements and aligned Key Indicators & metrics.
  • Provide 1LOD fraud loss and fraud control MI plus commentary for 1LOD and 2LOD forums

 

 

In order to apply for this role, you will ideally have the following:

 

 

Experience

  • Extensive experience working with controls that manage fraud risk for a leading bank/ Financial Services is essential.
  • Experience leading fraud risk with in wealth and private banking sectors would an advantage.
  • Successful track record in influencing is essential, in particular the application of this skill in areas outside their direct span of control.
  • Knowledge and experience leading fraud controls in the MENAT region is required.
  • Experience working in the global business is disreable but not essential.
  • Extensive experience dealing with regional regulators coupled with strong knowledge of regulations and policies  is required.
  • Ability to be able to represent the FLOD in external regulatory discussions is required.
  • A background or deep understanding of operational risk is required.
  • Bachlors Degree is required in order to obtain a UAE work permit.
