Job description

Some careers grow faster than others.

If you’re looking for further opportunities to develop your career, take the next step in fulfilling your potential right here at HSBC.

Do you enjoy turning complex challenges into practical solutions? Can you coach a leader through a tricky conversation, spot the opportunity in a set of people metrics and keep multiple stakeholders moving in the same direction?

Then this could be your next move.

We’re looking for a hands-on HR Manager to join our CIB team and help shape the people agenda across MENAT. You’ll work alongside the CIB HR Business Partner and HR Centres of Excellence, partnering with leaders to build capability, strengthen talent and succession, support organisational change and create an employee experience where people can do their best work.

In short: you’ll bring people insight, the commercial mindset and the calm head when things get complicated.

What you’ll get stuck into

  • Coach and advise CIB managers on performance, capability, talent and development—helping good leaders become even better.
  • Turn CIB and HR priorities into practical MENAT people plans covering workforce, skills, learning and succession.
  • Support organisation design and change initiatives, from operating model reviews and role clarity to spans, layers and location strategy.
  • Build trusted partnerships with Business Heads, COOs, Finance, Risk, Compliance and HR colleagues.
  • Facilitate talent and succession discussions, championing diverse slates and inclusive decisions in line with We Value Difference.
  • Work with HR Operations, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Learning & Development and Reward to deliver joined-up solutions.
  • Help managers navigate performance, conduct and employee relations matters with fairness, sound judgement and appropriate governance.
  • Keep HR governance, labour law alignment and internal controls firmly on the agenda—because the small details matter.
  • Use data, including attrition, engagement, performance, diversity, learning uptake and vacancies, to turn insight into action.
  • Drive strategic people projects from first idea to final delivery, keeping plans, risks, communications and adoption on track.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • A graduation degree, essential for obtaining a work permit. Where your university certificate was issued outside the UAE, current attestations and equivalency are also mandatory under UAE recognition requirements.
  • Experience in HR generalist or advisory roles within a complex, matrixed organisation—ideally banking, financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Strong coaching skills across performance management, talent, succession and development planning.
  • A sound understanding of HR risk, controls and employee relations, with the judgement to bring in specialist support when needed.
  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and deliver through HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence.
  • Discretion, emotional intelligence and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with care.
  • A communication style that works across cultures, geographies and levels of seniority.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach—and the ownership to see things through.

Why HSBC?

You’ll join a collaborative, international team where your work will have visible impact. One day may involve shaping a succession plan; the next, supporting a change programme or helping a manager solve a people challenge. No two days are quite the same - and that’s rather the point.

We support our staff to adopt flexible and alternative ways of working where possible, including working from home and different hours subject to approvals.

SBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued, respected and opinions count. We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working, and opportunities to grow within an inclusive and diverse environment.
