Job description

Some careers grow faster than others.

If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.

HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) is an emerging markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Through our international network, we connect emerging and mature markets, covering key growth areas. We partner with our corporate, government and institutional clients to help them achieve consistent, long-term performance. Our products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales and transaction banking.

The Opportunity

Credit & Capital Management (C&CM) within CIB is implementing a new, modern and consistent end-to-end operating model including a first line credit management office - the Business Credit Office (BCO).

The BCO Analyst is based in Qatar and supports BCO Managers plus Relationship Managers (RMs) or Coverage through client review and renewal activity. You’ll complete customer research and financial and credit analysis and co-ordinate credit applications or renewals including risk escalation. The role is client facing and works closely with Coverage and Transaction Support teams to deliver a consistent Credit & Lending servicing journey. Success means reliable and predictable underwriting across the portfolio with strong controls delivered to agreed OKRs, SLAs and KPIs.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver BCO tasks in line with agreed OKRs, SLAs and KPIs
  • Support the end-to-end Credit & Lending servicing journey to provide a seamless process for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Assist Relationship Managers with credit analysis and timely submission of credit proposals for facilities for existing and prospective clients
  • Co-ordinate credit applications or renewals and manage risk escalation to the Risk team where required
  • Liaise with relevant teams to prepare facility letters and internal security documents and confirm completeness of security documentation prepared by external legal counsel
  • Monitor credit quality across the supported portfolio through periodic credit reviews plus covenant and condition tracking and reporting
  • Apply HSBC policies and adhere to regulatory, financial and legal standards to minimise business and reputational risks
  • Maintain First Line of Defence controls including timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations and addressing issues raised by external regulators

What we're looking for

  • Bring relevant experience in corporate banking in a credit analyst or relationship manager capacity
  • Apply a strong understanding of financing instruments and banking products used in corporate banking
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of risk management and experience ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements
  • Produce customer research plus financial and credit analysis that supports consistent underwriting decisions
  • Manage credit proposals and renewals end-to-end with attention to detail across documentation and approvals
  • Partner effectively with Coverage, Transaction Support, Risk and external legal counsel to progress deals and documentation
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and participate in client meetings where required
  • Develop credit skills, product knowledge, industry knowledge and client management skills through training and on-the-job delivery

Strengthening first-line credit execution

This role sits at the heart of how C&CM is simplifying and standardising first line credit work through the Business Credit Office. You’ll help create a single handoff from RM to BCO for Credit & Lending tasks and build consistency in underwriting and portfolio monitoring. Alongside Coverage and Transaction Support teams you’ll help deliver a smoother experience for colleagues and clients while protecting the Bank through strong controls. If you’re looking to broaden your credit toolkit within a new operating model this is a chance to make a tangible contribution from day one.
