Role purpose:
To lead the Securities Services (SSv) business in the Bangladesh achieve agreed strategic business objectives. Strongly collaborates, consults and influences onshore and offshore stakeholders such as sales, client management, product and functions to build and deliver sustainable business, efficiency and client outcomes. Optimises the profitable contribution of SSv product lines whilst demonstrating knowledge of, and compliance with, regulatory, conduct and global standards/financial crime compliance priorities, expectations and obligations. Plays a prominent role in building the business profile, both internally within HSBC and externally with market regulators and clients.
In the role of Head of MSS Operations, you will be taking on a newly created opportunity where you will be responsible for providing senior management oversight for operational activities supporting the Markets and Securities Services business in Bangladesh with key elements spanning Markets Operations, Securities Services Operations, Corporate Actions. Your focus will be delivering consistently high-quality service, simplifying and creating synergy across operations and providing strong local decision making, to provide a scalable and sustainable operation for the local market.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Maximize Dak SSv financial performance – Achievement of FRP Revenue and Controllable Cost Targets
- Position the business for future growth – Identifying opportunities to retain and grow income streams through the optimization of client relationships/plans, identifying new target clients and development of new products/solutions in line with Strategic Business filters.
- In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, pursue transformation and process improvement initiatives to optimize MSS operations and enhance employee and client experience.
- Ensure SSv plays a prominent role in market advocacy, market infrastructure change initiatives, including appropriate representation on relevant industry bodies
- Owns all financial and non-financial risks associated with the SSv business and MSS Operations in the country; ensures adequate governance of risk and control environment including local specific risks
- Supporting the strategic development of MSS businesses in Bangladesh
- Providing strong leadership, creating an environment for effective teamwork and maintaining high team morale / job satisfaction, while maintaining high quality operational service and performance.
- Managing operational risk, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.

- Own, drive and influence the people focus for all SSv and MSS Operations staff in the country covering Performance Culture, Talent Management and Development, Diversity and Inclusion, Speak-up and other relevant group-wide / SSv and MSS Operations led initiatives

Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in leading and managing a securities services business or other relevant leadership experience.
- Experience in all aspects of Business management, including people development, client management, business planning, financials, marketing, and risk management
- Strong knowledge and awareness of SSv products, target client segments and linkages in other business lines such as GB / GM / CIB
- Collaborative approach to working in a matrix environment involving Sector, global product heads, global functions and local HSBC structures
