Assistant Vice President, Tax

We are currently seeking an ambitious and self-motivated individual to join this team in the role of Assistant Vice President, Tax in Finance.
Role Purpose:
To manage a line of tax compliance and ensure the delivery of a professional, effective and responsive tax service at optimal cost. More specifically to ensure proper tax accounting, compliance, strategy, audits and planning are effectively in place. Responsible for tax accounting, compliance, strategy, audit and planning related to tax. Also to provides internal tax advisory service.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Assist in proper management of corporate tax compliance, tax accounting including deferred tax and tax audit activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of corporate tax and all types of other operational tax along with timely submission of regulatory returns.
- Prepare corporate income tax and operational tax returns, comply with tax regulations, prepare tax plan and provide tax advice to global business and functions.
- Conduct assurance review to ensure compliance of operational taxes, review and challenges the risk and control assessment of LOB’s related to the tax risks.
- Identify and utilize ways that enhance tax efficiency, assist on tax planning
- Provide updates to management and businesses on group and local tax issues.
- Assist in proper execution of local tax strategy and policies within scope of responsibility
- Ensure highest standards of delivery of tax advice and support and product due diligence.
- Prepare and analyze key tax documentation and presentations.
- SME supports LOB’s compliance for CRS/FATCA reporting.
- Ensure delivery of Group and Regional tax strategy and initiatives.
- Ensure proper and up to date knowledge and skills about the local and global tax legislation/guidelines, banking laws and regulations and IFRS/BFRS related to taxation.
- On-boarding Third party for tax team as TPEM and completing all related engagements regarding on-boarding (pre and post tasks related to engagement)
- Develops tax knowledge through experience, training and/or examinations or certification.
- Assisting any kind of internal and external audit team regarding tax or VAT audit.
- Guiding & advising business regarding implementation of any new circular, statutory order circulated by regulatory stakeholders.
- Monitoring, reconciling and substantiating tax related GLs regularly.
- Exercises judgment in daily activities, however work is carried out with general supervision and regular process checks.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent analytical, conceptual and communication skills
- Qualification from any professional accounting body (CA/CMA/ACCA/CIMA etc.) is preferable.
- Degree on local taxation would be preferred
- Basic knowledge of banking products and industry
- Experience working in the taxation area would be an added advantage
- A high level of professional competence to determine solutions around tax accounting procedures, controls, risk management and quality assurance
- Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organization
- Able to influence without authority
