Subdirector Traded Risk

Role Purpose:
Lead the Traded Risk in Latin America as an effective second line of defense overseeing Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk of the trading activities.
Partner with the first line to provide constructive challenge, set appropriate risk limits and appetite, review and approve new products, monitor traded risk-taking activity and manage the systems infrastructure involved in delivering controls.
Conduct in-depth analyses of risk positions and exposures across the region and in ensuring effective coordination of risk management initiatives
Drive transformation initiatives for Traded Risk in line with the global Traded Risk transformation agenda and by implementing local initiatives for enhancing the effectiveness of the function.
Establish process and knowledge sharing for development of globally consistent, good practice, risk models
Lead risk measurement in the region, day-to-day risk management and sensitivity analysis
Liaise with regulators where applicable and represent Traded Risk on several committees and project groups
Main Responsibilities:
- Review NPDD and approve with appropriate caveats
- Set appropriate risk limits in relation to market risk and counterparty credit risk
- Drive stress testing activities
- Assist with the development of high-quality risk reports
- Draft materials for internal governance meetings as required and provide expert commentary when requested
- Build expert knowledge of regulations and provide leadership on these topics to wider Traded Risk function
- Ongoing liaison with the Front Office Sales and Trading Teams
- Supporting the implementation of relevant policy updates, MI and system development
- Global consistency and improved control framework
Functional Knowledge:
- University graduate in Finance, computer science or numerated related disciplines
- Experienced Risk professional with deep understanding of the Traded Risk function and prior roles in either Traded Risk, Product Control or Global Markets Front Office with a strong analytical background
- Demonstrated ability to act as an effective partner to the Business, understand complex business requirements, provide constructive challenge and advice, deliver balanced outcomes taking into account both risk and commercial considerations.
- Exposure to demanding operational environments and ability prioritise and deliver best-in-class outcomes under competing pressures.
- Experience in effectively interacting with regulators, good understanding of the changing regulatory landscape and major regulatory projects relevant to Traded Risk.
- Strong understanding of the governance and control frameworks relevant to Traded Risk activities.
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, financial products and related risks, and fully up to date with current market and economic trends relevant to the region.
- Experience of related banking areas, e.g. Risk, Product Control, Front Office, Quants
