Mexico Insurance Head of Technology

Role purpose
This is a high profile, exciting and challenging role to lead the technology function in Mexico Insurance, whilst maintaining high levels of customer service, and building a cooperative culture. Mexico Insurance’s primary focus is its Life Insurance and General Insurance arms which are manufactured by HSBC and distributed by our partners and brokers via multiple channels.
The role holder will lead and drive HSBC Insurance Technology in meeting its business objectives through the delivery of all Technology services. Drive strategic technology planning and transformation execution (including merger and acquisition activities), as well as day to day operations and initiatives to align to the business and global technology function priorities. Drive continuous improvement of the technology operating model including organisation, people and process (Ways of Working) to effectively control and manage all technology resources (people and financial) to maximise benefit to the business.
Main activities
- Lead and deliver all technology services for HSBC Insurance Mexico to meet business objectives across Life and General Insurance
- Own end-to-end Agile technology delivery for market initiatives, covering internal and external solutions
- Drive strategic technology planning and execute transformation activity (including M&A-related technology work).
- Oversee technology transformation programmes and project delivery in Mexico, aligned to Group Technology strategy and controls.
- Manage technology risk (including cyber), define remediation plans to “green”, and support internal audit activity.
- Ensure delivery complies with Solution Controls, Cyber Security Frameworks, and Business Transformation Frameworks.
- Optimise delivery capacity and flow, managing dependencies/impediments and improving lead time and release frequency.
- Maintain operational stability: incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of service performance and operational KPIs.
- Ensure solutions align to Group Architecture standards (cloud-native/microservices, API reuse, non-functional requirements, technical debt management).
- Track and manage technology spend against budgets and report financials in line with Global financial best practices.
Requirements
- Deep and proven experience in senior technology roles managing on-premises, public cloud based and AI driven technology assets
- Solid experience of managing Technology teams in a large and globally complex organisation
- Ability to develop a clear understanding of clients and customer’s technology needs and develop strategic plans to align while managing stakeholder expectations and exerting influence to achieve successful HSBC Life business outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Spanish and English
- Excellent knowledge of Agile Ways of Working methodology and delivery
- Comprehensive understanding of Technology and Cyber Security risk management controls and frameworks
- Significant experience managing complex Technology project dependencies to deliver a required set of business outcomes
- Experience of Technology vendor and service management, including with General Insurance partners
- Knowledge of core Insurance business domains including Life and General Insurance, and technology platforms and architecture
