Web Production Services offers content management services within Digital Production Services. The department supports the Group’s businesses and functions to effectively deliver messages digitally through HSBC public websites and intranets.
The Opportunity:
The Web Production Manager is accountable for the day-to-day management of a designated team, websites and website owners. The role is the key point of contact for stakeholders, the first line of escalation, and the final approver in the content publishing workflow, with responsibility for safeguarding the quality and integrity of content published to HSBC websites.
The role also oversees production delivery across accessibility checks, content related SEO requirements, tagging, support for IT and emergency deployment tests, incident management and publishing risks, and compliance activities as required by website owners. The role works closely with multi-disciplinary teams such as IT, marketing, vendors and other subject matter experts to identify technical gaps and drive resolution.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and be accountable for a designated team, websites and website owners, acting as the day-to-day point of contact and first line of escalation for stakeholders.
- Act as the final approver in the content publishing workflow, safeguarding the quality standards and integrity of content published on HSBC websites in line with website owner specifications.
- Oversee delivery of production activities including accessibility checks, content related SEO requirements, tagging, and support for IT and emergency deployment tests.
- Manage incidents, publishing risks and support compliance activities as required by website owners.
- Ensure team adherence to department guidelines, compliance regulations, policies and procedures relating to content and web design, working closely with stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation and ensure consistency in navigation, templates, functionality and website elements through testing and deployments.
- Review processes to identify improvement opportunities and implement actionable changes to ways of working and production metrices.
- Ensure delivery of projects according to specification, cost, and timeline by regularly monitoring requirements, planning, and directing production in collaboration with different teams eg IT, vendor, marketing, etc.
- Review and assure the quality of work across the team, identify skills gaps, and provide training and coaching to build capability.
- Work with teams to generate, review and analyze website performance, and use insights to drive improvements.
- Build strong, professional relationships with stakeholders through clear, regular communication aligned to business objectives.
- Maintain and build knowledge of HSBC content management systems and relevant tools, achieving competency as required.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Technical expertise in web development, content management systems, and digital publishing platforms and tools
- Solid knowledge of CSS, HTML and JavaScript to support day-to-day content management and oversee team’s delivery
- Strong understanding of online content best practices including compliance and style guides
- Proofreading and editorial checking skills, with strong attention to detail
- Understanding of user experience (UX) fundamentals, accessibility standards (WCAG), analytics and SEO practices
- Structured and systematic approach to managing tasks, priorities and delivery
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (eg IT, marketing, vendors and other SMEs) to identify gaps and drive resolution
- Ability to manage production issues using root cause analysis, risk and impact assessment, and mitigating controls
- People leadership skills, including coaching, training and capability development within a team environment
- Clear, concise communication skills and strong stakeholder management, including handling day-to-day queries and escalations
- Commitment to maintaining proficiency in required software and keeping up to date with technology and industry best practice
- Strong focus on compliance with HSBC Group policies and procedures, and taking personal responsibility for doing the right thing
