The Finance, Sustainability, and Group External Communications function brings together distinct specialisms to drive greater connectivity in how we manage engagement with key stakeholders for HSBC.

Finance teams provide the bank with internal and external financial reporting, forecasting, controls oversight, and stress testing expertise. Specialist areas also manage HSBC’s worldwide tax affairs, group treasury needs, and events for investors and analysts.

Sustainability teams lead the bank’s work to support sustainable growth in a global economy, including an ambitious plan to prioritize financing that supports the transition to net zero.

Group External Communications teams – including colleagues from Media Relations, ESG Communications and Group Reputation –deliver communication strategies that support HSBCs strategic objectives, protect our reputation and build trust among our stakeholders.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our finance team in the role of Financial Accounting and Analytics Manager.

In this role you will:

  • Preparation of financial statements in compliant with financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of statutory returns in accordance with the regulatory requirements and submission according to the timelines set.
  • Support reviews of financial/regulatory processes, perform periodic testing of controls and manage the month end accounting closure deadlines.
  • Reconcile and review general ledger accounts and action to remediate issues identified.
  • Support and coordinate the external audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Support the business to implement recommendations provided by internal/external auditors and regulators to strengthen the controls framework.
  • Develop knowledge in financial and regulatory reporting, through working with internal subject matter experts and undertaking training.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Member of CA/CIMA/ACCA or reading for the final level of these professional accountancy bodies or equivalent.
  • A degree in Finance, Business or Accounting discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Have adequate hands-on experience in Financial/Management and/or Regulatory reporting in a Bank or Financial Institution.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and Macros. Knowledge in Business Intelligence tools will be a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Sound working knowledge in accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (IFRS).
