Global Markets is part of our HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking division, a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Our Markets business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. Our services are offered both online and offline in 58 countries and territories. We specialise in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets., adherence to regulatory compliance, and seamless operational client service across 58 countries and territories.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate - Global Markets Corporate Sales.
Principal responsibilities
• Manage and grow revenue and profitability for an allocated portfolio of strategic and priority corporate clients, while delivering consistently strong client service.
• Identify sales opportunities, progress them from ideas to execution, and support the post-trade process to ensure a seamless end-to-end client experience.
• Provide day-to-day client coverage across the full Corporate Sales product set, with a strong focus on foreign exchange instruments and interest rate derivatives.
• Build long-term, trusted relationships that increase product penetration and share of wallet through relevant market insight and targeted solutions.
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders such as Relationship Managers, Global Payments Solutions, and Global Trade Solutions to deliver joined-up coverage for clients.
• Improve efficiency and cost of service by championing self-service electronic capability for transactional needs and using offshore support appropriately.
• Coordinate with regional Corporate Risk Solution teams for more complex balance sheet structuring solutions where required.
• Maintain robust records and ensure all client interactions and documentation (including disclaimers and suitability reviews where required) meet policy and regulatory expectations.
• Promote a strong control environment by operating within internal and external regulations, escalating issues early, and supporting audit and regulatory actions as needed.
Requirements
• Demonstrated experience in Corporate Sales team/s in a similar role/capacity in a bank/s
• A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a business related discipline and/or a professional qualification in Chartered Institute of Management Accountants(CIMA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
• Certificate Programme on Treasury & Foreign Exchange Operations issued by Central Bank of Sri Lanka or Diploma/Certificate from ACI Financial Markets Association.
• Strong understanding of Corporate Sales, including products, clients, systems, and key processes.
• Solid knowledge of capital markets, including foreign exchange (spot, options, swaps, forwards) and interest rate derivatives.
• Demonstrable experience developing client relationships and delivering commercial outcomes through solution-led selling.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and geographies to deliver for clients and drive referrals and cross-sell.
• Strong analytical skills and judgement to balance client outcomes, commercial goals, and risk responsibilities.
• Track record of supporting operational discipline, including accurate record-keeping and adherence to confidentiality and information control requirements.
• Commitment to a risk-aware culture, including completing mandatory training and applying policy and regulatory expectations in day-to-day work.
