We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join the team as a Model Risk Lead Analyst.
This role sits within the Model Management Team, part of the wider Retail Credit Risk Analytics function in the UK Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Risk organisation. Reporting to the Head of Model Management, the role supports the effective risk management of models used for lending decisions and Basel regulatory reporting. The team operates across the UK and the Global Analytics Centre in India.
You’ll focus on delivering analytics initiatives to embed new regulatory requirements (including SS1/23) and managing model impacts arising from business and technology transformation. Have ongoing responsibilities include model monitoring and realignments, first line model assessments, support for second line reviews, and data quality reporting. You’ll also covers governance and control activities, including preparing forum materials, supporting issues management, engaging with internal and external audit, and assessing regulatory compliance.

In this role you will:
- Lead and deliver model risk management outputs, including monitoring, realignments and assessments for UK WPB Decision and Basel models
- Work independently in project delivery supporting model management initiatives and business projects impacting models.
- Present model performance and model risk updates to stakeholders, escalating issues and recommending actions as required
- Contribute to project planning and coordinate with team members and wider stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement, including modernising reporting and implementing innovative process enhancements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Retail credit product knowledge (Credit Cards, Mortgages, Loans and Overdrafts)
- Understanding of statistical models and data-driven rules in credit portfolio management
- Relevant experience in credit risk analytics, modelling, or model management
- Proficiency in tools such as SAS, SQL, Microsoft Office, Python and Qlik Sense
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to varied audiences
