We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
M&S Bank is entering an exciting new chapter: from 1 June we’ll become a trading name and brand of HSBC UK, combining the strength and scale of HSBC with the pace and customer focus of the M&S partnership—creating bigger opportunities to shape standout payments, lending, and savings journeys for millions of M&S customers.
We are seeking a Senior Relationship and Proposition Planning Manager,
This is a high-impact role at the heart of the M&S Bank partnership—where commercial strategy, proposition direction, and senior stakeholder leadership meet. You’ll be the key link between HSBC and M&S plc, shaping growth ambition and translating it into executable plans, while steering governance and performance to keep the partnership delivering for customers.
If you enjoy operating at pace in a matrix, influencing across boundaries, and turning complex agendas into clear decisions and outcomes, this role gives you real visibility and the chance to move the dial on a flagship UK retail partnership.
In this role, you’ll:
- Own the senior day-to-day relationship with M&S plc, acting as the primary interface and managing relationship health, issues, escalation, and performance discussions
- Lead joint commercial strategy and planning, including annual and medium-term planning cycles, growth ambition, investment priorities, and financial targets
- Set proposition direction and roadmap, aligning to customer needs, market trends and partnership strategy across products, channels, pricing, and customer experience
- Coordinate across UK teams (product, risk, pricing, technology) to prioritise and deliver partnership needs, resolving conflicts and escalating where required
- Run governance and decision-making cadence, coordinating joint forums per the Relationship Agreement and producing high-quality decision papers and executive reporting
- Drive performance insight and partnership effectiveness, tracking KPIs, surfacing risks/opportunities, and improving ways of working across joint teams
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:
- Retail banking operating model knowledge, especially product-led / proposition-based structures
- Partnership experience, including shared accountability, decision rights, and commercial outcomes in partner-led models
- Commercial strategy and planning capability, with strong grasp of financial drivers (revenue, margin, cost, investment trade-offs) and annual planning cycles
- Senior stakeholder management and influence without authority, with credibility in executive/board-level forums
- Governance and regulated-environment discipline, including producing executive-level papers and understanding conduct risk/customer outcome expectations
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
