- The current open position is in HSBC Financial Accounting team that involves period end close, accounting controls and balance sheet substantiation leading into IFRS, FINREP, GSIB & CE reporting which is a key input into the GFR process. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join this team in the role of “VP Finance Operations”.
- The role holder will be responsible for leading and manage the period end close process along with Saracen reporting and Balance sheet reconciliation & substantiation. In addition to leading and supervising the team’s performance and managing stakeholders, the role holder is required to drive strategic & tactical transformation within the process.
- The Financial reporting process also include Local Regulatory reporting, TM submissions and Accounting process includes GL Close process, I/C reconciliation, Balance Sheet reconciliation & substantiation, Audits etc. Key priorities include production of Analytical review, control and compliance with IFRS, Local GAAP and supporting CAO/CFO and Regional /Group sign off.
- There is a strong focus on transformation and the role holder has the responsibility to review the end to end processes and controls and to work closely with upstream and downstream processes (eg: Product Control/Risk/IPAC/Risk& Compliance, Tax & Transfer Pricing etc.) to strengthen the end-to-end process
In this role, you will:
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
- Ability to manage and lead the Ledger close and Reporting process.
- End to end process ownership, management and preparation of BAU reporting and ensuring effective controls in place. Proficient in financial statement closure and reporting procedures.
- Responsible and accountable for business service delivery. Presenting financial report to senior stake holders for their review and signoff
- Would be responsible for certification and ensuring assurance and control /design effectiveness related to balance sheet accounts including substantiation including Adherence to FIM.Representing in change forums, understating the change / impact on FA process and ensuring smooth implementation
- Responsible for meeting the defined SLAs, managing good relationship with the stakeholders, maintaining and developing robust controls in the process
- Ability to analyze and review processes, identifying automation and simplification opportunities and drive transformation agenda. Drive change initiatives within the process
- Ensure high quality of output is delivered e.g. financial data in the reports etc. is accurately and correctly presented
- Understanding of control frameworks and how to implement effective controls in practice.;
To be successful you will:
- Recognized professional accounting qualification with 15+ years of experience predominantly in Finance, including in leadership positions managing complex requirements from senior stakeholders
- Experience of operating in senior governance forums, handling auditors
- Strong experience and understanding across financial accounting and business finance. Strong formal written reporting skills and experience of drafting papers for Board-level audience
- Ability to work under pressure, report to tight deadlines and deal effectively with issues as they arise
- Commercial mindset with strong execution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex and technical messages to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
