We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Financial Accounting, Intercompany CoE

Purpose of the role

Asset Control team is responsible for end-to-end accounting, analysis, and reporting of assets. It also ensures design and operating effectiveness of the control environment. The team ensures accounting is performed in compliance with IAS 16, IAS 38, IAS 36 and relevant FIM guidelines. It also reviews and operationalizes changes to policy as required. Currently, Fusion platform is being rolled out for Assets process across various entities, and the team is responsible to ensure seamless migration of the process under the COE ensuring standardization across all countries.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the SME on Assets related requirement, knowledge of practical application to Asset accounting. Ensure robust control environment by adhering to relevant accounting standards and policies. Performing analytical review through reconciliations and investigation facilitating substantiation and signoff by owners. Independently liaise with various stakeholders to manage BAU and any initiatives. Further, lead process migration and ensure seamless transition in line with target operating model.
  • Coordinate and support quality and re-engineering initiatives (within GCIO and Global Finance/GFC) leading to positive business outcomes, operational efficiency, and higher productivity. Take accountability for queries resolution in a timely manner from senior group level management as appropriate. Ensure support is provided to as per requirement from Business Partners/PLA.
  • Liaise with Project team and other colleagues within the team to proactively manage process/system related challenges. Ensure reconciliations is provided to and easily understood by stakeholders. Respond to queries from senior group level management as appropriate
  • Effective communication within the team and with business partners. Take accountability and ownership of the tasks and responsibility assigned. Work cohesively with the team and works towards team’s goal
  • Establishing and building user confidence in robust Accounting and control environments for Asset Accounting team. Understanding and interpreting the operational challenges, system. Evidencing a proactive approach – it is fundamental for this role that all stakeholders are kept informed of the progress of issues raised towards resolution. Focusing on the delivery of an excellent support function and surpassing user expectations. Meeting the shrinking operational timeline for the reporting requirements
  • Knowledge on Fusion, Cadency, Xceptor. Ensuring operational timeline deliverables are met as per the deadlines. Ensure that the live issues escalated as and when required. Prevent changes to existing process and dependencies on external parties from impacting deliverable timelines. The Programme must be managed in accordance with the group controls framework and with relevant FIM’s (Finance Instruction Manual)
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators and BRCM. Observe and promote the use of the group’s preferred programme management methods/tools
  • Observe disparate data protection acts between countries as applicable. Role Dimensions (e.g. balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget. in USD’000). Knowledge of accounting and practical application of Assets accounting. Knowledge on Month end recs certification on Cadency. Experience and Knowledge in any of the HSBC ledgers. Expected to perform Asset accounting process as part of overall Balance Sheet

To be successful you will:

  • Preferably CA/CWA: 8-10 years or B.Com /M Com/ CA (Inter)/ CWA (Inter): 10-12 years. Experience in leading a team of Finance professionals in achieving time based delivery targets. Exposure to Accounting, Financial Control and knowledge of IFRS preferred.
  • Expertise in HSBC GL systems, month end reconciliations, investigations and point of contact to various internal stakeholders and escalate as appropriate. Subject matter expertise on Month end recs certification on Cadency roles.
  • Ability to successfully manage customer relationships with multiple business partners. Knowledge and ability to perform control risk assessments. Analytical and ability to relate business operations to financial exposure
  • Problem Solving skills - Must be creative and have analytical ability in recommending procedures & process changes. Demonstrate ability to provide meaningful analysis and process improvement.
  • Project management and migration experience preferred. Good Communication and presentation skills – Both verbal and written. Ability to proactively identify issues and work towards resolution.
  • Ability to seek change, encourage change and drive change within the team
  • Ability to seek and encourage “out-of-the-box” thinking. Ability to get granular with details, yet retain the ability to provide “thought leadership” to the team
  • Able to build and maintain positive and productive working relationship. Able to apply the knowledge on IAS 16 ,IAS 36 and IAS 38
