We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role Assistant Vice President - Finance Operations

Purpose of the role  

Global Finance Operations Centre (GFOC) provides a variety of financial support services to business partners over the HSBC Group. As part of the Financial Accounting team, we are primarily responsible for all the month close activities and post month-end reporting on Saracen that lead up to the preparation of the financial statements.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage end to end GL closure and accounting events (manual journals, ledger close, book closure), entity P&L monitoring, abnormal movement analysis, and timely closure per group timelines, with SME Ownership of IFRS, complaint books and monthly/quarterly MI and Manual returns.
  • Period end reporting, and site reporting deliverables, while maintaining a strong control framework, monitoring internal controls, driving exception governance, and leading new projects through to BAU - all within tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • In country partners- Ensure required support is provided and the process is managed as per the agreed KPIs, Attend/Organize all business Governance calls /meetings and drive issue resolution as required.
  • Other Teams- Respond to queries from Other teams i.e Product Control, Business Finance, Financial Reporting, Regulatory reporting, Ops. etc. as appropriate and ensure that the reporting requirements are complied with, and escalations handled appropriately and collaborate to meet the organization objectives.
  • Maintain defined operations Risk framework and adhere to Group policies, IFRS reporting requirements, audit, controls and compliance requirements. This also includes and is not limited to Declaration of Secrecy, data protection act, health, safety and security, clear desk policy with robust back up planning for uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Ensure BC plan is documented, agreed with In-Country team and tested for all the processes as agreed. Responsible for timely update and maintenance of RCAs, BIAs, PLAs and ensuring all other documents like the SOPs are in place and updated.
  • Ensure adherence to Group policies, audit, controls, and compliance requirements (data protection and information security, audit controls, etc.) with proactive risk management and timely issue escalations.
  • Drive year- on- year efficiency through optimum utilization of resources and plan for peak load volumes, and cross training across all the critical functions.

 

To be successful you will:

  • CA/CPA/ACCA/MBA/ICWAI with at least 8+ years or B. Com with 12+ years of post-qualification experience in accounting and reporting month end closure processes, working knowledge of GL System and Site Reporting
  • Proven track record of role in controllership in BFSI sector and sound knowledge of financial products and businesses such as Retail, Private, Commercial Banking and Global Banking etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, policy interpretation and implementation, working/detailed knowledge of Operational framework/rules; good knowledge of Analytical tools, MS Access Database, SAS will have an added advantage
  • Experience that demonstrates ability to deliver BAU and Change/Transformation Projects will be a plus
  • Experience of working with colleagues and stakeholders cross-border in a multinational organization
  • Possess strong strategic vision and leadership skills with strong communication and ability to interact with multiple employee levels/business partners, with a good negotiation & conflict management capability.
  • Self-motivated and accountable professional with a hands-on approach to tech tools, open to new challenges and changes, with the ability to provide strategic direction and manage Business Partner relationships effectively.
  • Stretch Hours at month end is normal practice, candidates should be flexible to work in any time zone.
