Job description

We are seeking an experienced high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Valuations Manager based in Hong Kong.

In this role, you will:

  • People management: Local management and training, close interaction and engagement with Valuations team across locations
  • Governance and Controls: Ensure adherence to governance and controls of Fair Value through the review and oversight of Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV), and Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PVA).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key contact point for the Trading team and other stakeholders, including Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT, and other PC and Finance teams (both locally and globally). 
  • Valuation Methodology: Lead and participate in the development and enhancement of valuation methodologies, ensuring global alignment and staying informed about industry developments. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous improvement by increasing efficiency and controls through procedural and system changes, and lead transformation initiatives within Product Control.
  • Compliance and Standards: Maintain HSBC internal control standards and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures, including timely implementation of audit points.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Finance or Consulting Background: Demonstrable experience within Financial or Professional Services. 
  • Professional Experience: Specific experience in Product Control, Risk, or Valuations is necessary. Demonstrable experience in Product Control and knowledge of products, 
  • accounting, valuations, controls, systems, models, and markets is essential. Experience with more than one asset class is an advantage. Finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, or FRM) is an advantage.  
  • Regulatory Knowledge: A good understanding and appreciation of regulatory requirements and guidelines for valuation is important. 
  • Methodology Development: Experience in developing methodology and shaping policy for Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Fair Value Adjustments (FVAs) is a distinct advantage. 
  • Technical Skills: Strong IT skills are preferred, including experience with Python and MS Excel.  Track record of driving change and automation using available tools such as Alteryx, Python, AI / ML etc
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, including the ability to articulate key valuation issues to senior stakeholders in a non-technical manner. 
  • Project and Team Management: Experience in leading projects to delivery and managing a team, especially across multiple locations, is beneficial. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are required. 
  • Relationship Building: Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority is important. 
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Ability to establish and maintain strong collaborative partnerships across HSBC is essential.
