We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Strategic Planner
In this role you will:
- Shape integrated strategic plans connecting growth and customer priorities with cost, workforce, capacity, productivity and transformation outcomes.
- Lead forward-looking cost and workforce planning, developing credible multi-year scenarios and annual plans covering demand, affordability, organisational shape, capability, location and investment.
- Provide insight on resource allocation, assessing whether workforce and investment are deployed in the right activities and identifying opportunities to redeploy, simplify, automate or remove work.
- Identify and influence structural productivity opportunities across process redesign, automation, AI, sourcing, location strategy and operating-model change, supported by credible benefits and execution plans.
- Drive cost and FTE performance, maintaining a forward-looking view of actuals, underlying run rate, forecast, target and transformation impacts; identifying emerging gaps and supporting recovery action.
- Enable senior-management decisions by translating complex financial, workforce, commercial and operational information into concise insights, scenarios, choices and recommendations.
- Create compelling communications, producing engaging Board-level presentations, strategic narratives and decision papers, as well as accessible newsletters and updates for junior and senior colleagues.
- Build alignment and delivery accountability, constructively challenging assumptions while maintaining trust and ensuring agreed actions have clear ownership, milestones and outcome measures.
Across these responsibilities, the role holder will promote disciplined risk and control management, simplify and automate planning and reporting, and help raise the strategic, analytical and communication capability of the wider team.
To be successful you will need:
- Relevant senior experience in strategic planning, strategic finance, cost management, workforce strategy, transformation, business performance or a COO/business-management environment.
- Strong cost and workforce-planning capability, including cost drivers, forecasting, demand and capacity modelling, productivity, organisational shape and location considerations.
- Advanced analytical and commercial capability, able to test assumptions, identify underlying drivers and connect growth, customer outcomes, resources, investment, cost and productivity.
- Transformation experience across simplification, process redesign, automation, AI or operating-model change, with clear linkage to measurable outcomes.
- A delivery track record against cost, workforce or productivity commitments, including early identification of gaps and effective corrective action.
- Strong strategic judgement, moving confidently between detailed analysis and wider enterprise implications, choices and longer-term opportunities.
- Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication, including engaging executive presentations fit for Board-level audiences and newsletters or updates that resonate with junior and senior colleagues.
- Strong storytelling and presentation design, structuring information around audience needs and making the required decision, action or implication immediately clear.
- Senior-stakeholder influence, including constructive challenge, alignment of competing priorities and evidence of changing decisions through data and insight.
- Proactive, collaborative execution, demonstrating intellectual curiosity, reliable delivery across competing priorities and willingness to coach and develop colleagues.
- Sound risk and digital judgement, with experience in a complex or regulated organisation and effective use of data, technology and AI to improve productivity and decision support.
