Senior Manager Global Reinsurance

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager Global Reinsurance.

In this role you will:

Impact on Business

• Manage the overall reinsurance relationship globally with all providers
• Manage the transition of reinsurance management from 2nd line to 1st line in the company
• Develop and maintain the approach to selecting reinsurers
• Manage the engagement of external / internal reinsurance for significant initiatives
• Monitor and be equipped with updates and latest developments in the reinsurance market
• Give advice and support countries on matters relate to reinsurance.
• Work with the local insurance businesses to develop their protection propositions, via reinsurance supports.

Capital Optimization:

• Work with local insurance business, and group functions to Identify inefficiency in capital management
• Identify optimal reinsurance structure to mitigate the inefficiency. (external and internal)
• Collaborate with local and group insurance functions to execute these reinsurance transactions

Product Development Support:

• Support in designing global product strategy
• Support in design, and potentially lead the roll out of the einsurance program that enable protection focus proposition across key global markets
• Monitor and ensure reinsurance program are updated on developments on industry protection strategy in key markets

Customers / Stakeholders

• Manage the overall reinsurance relationships globally
• Drive engagement with local business unit / countries on reinsurance
• Manage group functions with reinsurance matters
• Manage the selection of reinsurance providers

Leadership & Teamwork

• Without having direct authority over the local product teams, work collaboratively with them on the reinsurance and protection strategy
• Work with colleagues in the Product Function and the local Chief Actuaries to ensure that the reinsurance and protection are consistent with the intended product management policies, and business strategy
• Works in a consultative manner to build capability in progressing objectives, but does not lose sight of the overall objective
• Acts in a manner that transparently promotes the organizational values and delivers in an aligned manner
• Cultivates an environment that supports diversity and reflects the company brand

Operational Effectiveness & Control

• Ensure seamless hand-offs to the local Product Heads and Implementation teams in the reinsurance and protection development process
• Where appropriate propose enhancements to MI measures that improve the understanding, development and management of products, and reinsurance program
• Supports operational risk by ensuring adherence to Group Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Information Security Standards
• Ensure Group standards are in place in all services for specific areas of accountability
• Ensure reinsurance program are in line with overall business strategy

Local Job Requirements

• The role holder will have to navigate the company matrix structure (including local CEOs/Product Heads, wealth locally and globally and Insurance Global Functions). He/she will contribute to development and implementation of a protection strategy that meets the needs of customers/distributors and shareholders in a challenging market environment
• The role requires both strong technical/strategic/product design skills and the organization and planning to drive the implementation of the protection strategy both globally and locally. It requires strong stakeholder management and influencing

To be successful you will need:

• Insurance experience of more than 10 years with focus on reinsurance
• Intimate knowledge of direct company actuarial operations (pricing, valuation, risk, distribution), and structured solutions via reinsurance covers, along with sensitive toward business awareness
• Experience working across multiple markets, products knowledge across multiple markets would be advantageous
• Experience in negotiation of reinsurance terms preferred
• Experience of working on protection product development, or reinsurance structured solutions
