Commercial Banking – Strategic Change, Business Risk and Client Services

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Senior Client Selection and Exit Management (CSEM) Manager
Principal responsibilities
- Oversee the consistent and timely decision making and execution on reputational risk and Client Selection and Exit Management matters such as negative news, high risk Politically Exposed person, Sustainability etc.
- Ensure local execution of CSEM is in line with approved delegated authorities and Terms of Reference, and coordinate among Regional and Global CSEM stakeholders. This ensures that cases are subject to appropriate level of scrutiny and review, discussion or debate, decisions are informed by good quality and pertinent information, relevant policies such as CSEM, Reputational Risk and exit execution are upheld and carried out comprehensively with adequate consideration of whether additional risk management and mitigation is appropriate. This ultimately requires effective financial crime risk management while ensuring compliance with conduct and legal or regulatory related obligations and ensuring that HASE treats customers fairly.
- Actively contribute to developing subject matter expertise in managing reputational risk and CSEM, providing direction, advice and guidance to front-line and business management teams to ensure that clients meet HASE’s risk appetite
- Exercise governance and oversight of controls of the end-to-end CSEM process which tracks operational effectiveness and efficiency. This includes the processes performed by the offshore CSEM Operations team
- Drive Local, Regional and Global CSEM procedural changes and streamlining initiatives which require coordination and providing subject matter expertise to various stakeholders including Second Line of Defense (2LOD)
- Work in collaboration with in-Country / Regional / Global stakeholders such as Operations, 2LOD including Financial Crime Compliance, Regulatory Compliance, Sanctions, Risk, Legal, Tax etc. to ensure ongoing implementation of Financial Crime Compliance and Regulatory Compliance policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, related discipline or other relevant qualifications;
- Good understanding of Financial Crime Risk issues and the experience in mitigating and remediating the risks in a Commercial Banking environment
- Demonstrable ability to drive projects and change initiatives
- Strong management, communication and organizational skills and proven ability to influence stakeholders including senior management
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to consider alternative and innovative solutions
- Ability to prioritize and work independently under pressure
- Proficiency in written and oral English as well as Chinese, fluency in Putonghua an advantage
- Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
