We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Risk Actuary, Insurance.

In this role you will:

  • Provide technical oversight and review of actuarial and financial outputs under the stewardship of the Head of Financial Risk Management. Insurance.
  • Assist with the review of relevant First Line of Defence (FLOD) procedures.
  • Review, consolidate or calculate financial metrics that are necessary to monitor financial risks.
  • Follow through and track completion of remediation actions that are required to mitigate key financial risks.
  • Partner with financial reporting risk stewards and local risk teams to oversee key actuarial processes across insurance entities.
  • Assist with the oversight of financial reporting and modelling controls.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews and assurance to assess reasonability of outputs, covering a range of actuarial and financial risk topics such as valuation and projection methodologies, and the reasonableness of actuarial assumptions.
  • Assist with the review of internal and external stress testing results.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in finance, actuarial or capital management field.
  • Ability to lead change, influence and actively drive performance.
  • Experience in the management of financial risks of an insurance business, preferrably in a large-scale insurance organisation.
  • Familiarity and understanding of the insurance industry and regulatory environment including current and emerging risks including financial risk management and balance sheet dynamics. 
  • Experience in modelling (especially Prophet) and model risk will be an asset.
  • Self-starter, independent with good communication skills.
  • Team player and high achiever with a positive attitude.
  • High level of personal integrity and values in line with HSBC core values.
