We are seeking a high caliber talent to join our team as Manager, Corporate Sustainability. As a member of the HASE Corporate Sustainability team, the Manager will play a key role in delivering HASE’s ESG Strategy and contribute to advancing HSBC Group’s net zero ambition in HASE and in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities:

Implementation and Execution

  • Support the implementation of HASE’s ESG Strategy, as well as HSBC Group’s Net Zero Transition Plan in Hong Kong, by working with internal teams to integrate sustainability into business operations and decisions
  • Track and present the bank’s sustainability performance to senior stakeholders and support the operations of internal sustainability-related governance forums
  • Facilitate the growth of sustainable finance and investments by supporting the Businesses on client engagements, proposition/partnership development, and sustainable finance transactions governance
  • Analyse market developments, trends and policies in relation to the net zero transition in Hong Kong and Greater China, and generate content and insights to support Businesses on strategic planning and/or client engagements
  • Support developing and implementing strategies for decarbonisation, including identifying partnerships and solutions
  • Coordinate with different teams to reduce operational and supply chain carbon emissions
  • Support internal teams to integrate sustainability into business operations and decisions.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on sustainability performance to major stakeholders.
  • Support the operations of the Corporate Sustainability team, including improving operational effectiveness and ensuring compliance with relevant internal processes and procedures

Capacity Building and Engagement

  • Develop and lead sustainability capacity building programmes to enhance employee knowledge and skills, including continuously monitoring and improving the programmes’ effectiveness
  • Assist with internal and external communications on sustainability topics
  • Support the bank’s engagements and partnerships with regulators, governments, industry bodies, NGOs, academia, and other relevant stakeholders in Hong Kong to create an enabling environment for financing the net zero transition

Requirements:

Functional knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, Business Administration)
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in sustainability, or related fields, preferably in a corporate setting or within the banking or financial services sector
  • Good knowledge of environmental and social management in a corporate setting, sustainability frameworks and standards, and industry best practices
  • Solid understanding of the latest market and regulatory developments in relation to sustainability and net zero transition, especially in the context of banking and financial institutions in Hong Kong
  • Familiarity with Hong Kong’s climate policies and plan in the wider context of China and Asia’s transition to net zero a plus
  • Exposure to one or more topics that are essential to realising the bank’s net zero ambition preferred, including but not limited to:
    • Sustainable finance
    • Renewable energy and low-carbon technologies
    • Fossil fuels and carbon-intensive sector decarbonisation
    • Carbon accounting methodologies and carbon markets
 
 
 
 

Skills and qualities

  • A clear, energising personal purpose and passion to proactively contribute to the sustainability agenda
  • Experience in project management and demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous work fronts with limited resources and competing priorities, and in collaboration with different internal teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate complex data
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in delivering presentations, engaging with internal / external stakeholders, and influencing change
  • Proficient in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
