We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Hedge Fund Credit Risk Generalist.

 

In this role you will:

  • To proactively analyze and control the credit risks relating to a portfolio of Funds (Traditional and Alternative) as a 1LOD Credit Officer.
  • Recommendation of appropriate credit limits / solutions in a manner which safeguards the bank’s capital and reputation while contributing to its growth aspirations.
  • Supporting the client facing teams in securing sound, profitable and durable credit business quickly and effectively.
  • To be a source of geographic / sector / counterparty expertise to the business and Risk Approvers.
  • Where appropriate to challenge and provide expert guidance to Global Banking and Markets Sales, Trading and Relationship team’s on-boarding process with regards to potential credit related issues and drive through change to meet the objective of improving efficiency and timeliness of credit approval turnaround times.
  • To interface with Regional 2LOD approvers and other internal partners on credit proposals and any other issues relating to the on-boarding process.
  • To manage and maintain databases and keep a well-organized credit file ensuring that all information is accurate and up to date and easy to retrieve.
  • That all appropriate IA’s are collected and approved within the delegated approval framework.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects in relation to funds.
  • Have a thorough understanding of credit policy, objectives and priorities of HSBC Group.
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. To continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Solid fund credit experience, with a strong preference for alternative funds.
  • Excellent credit analysis skills in particular analyzing the credit worthiness of alternative funds.
  • Strong knowledge of Global Banking and Markets products (including derivatives and lending products) and Prime Brokerage.
  • Strong knowledge of standard Markets related Legal Documentation (e.g. ISDA, GRMA) and ability to work with Legal teams during their negotiations with clients.
  • Experience must evidence a high level of competency in sound, risk-based decision making.
  • Sound credit judgment is crucial, as is a high degree of tenacity and an inquiring mind.
  • Good understanding of different types of risk including; credit, market, operational, legal, reputational.
  • Team player with excellent English written and communication skills. Fluency in other Asia languages would be a positive.
