We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Reporting, Risk Appetite and Governance, Insurance.

 

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the management of the Insurance RMM including agenda setting, paper reviews, pack production, minutes and actions.
  • Be responsible for the production of Insurance Risk MI and provide oversight on local Risk MI across the insurance businesses.
  • Develop, in conjunction with risk stewards, the Insurance Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and site guidance and manage the associated RAS processes as well as requirements around risk map reporting.
  • Support the insurance risk stewards in discharging their responsibilities, including the development and management of the policies, RTCLs and oversight approaches.
  • Supporting the implementation of the RMF across Insurance including monitoring of adherence to the RMF and cascading guidance to the insurance businesses.
  • Ensure that thematic and emerging risks are appropriately managed and reported.
  • Ensure a proactive and open partnership with risk stewards and the FLOD in all matters linked to GI including reporting and governance.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with Insurance Risk leadership, global risk stewards and local risk teams.
  • Engage in adhoc projects and activities where second line of defence oversight or review and challenge is required over insurance activities.
  • Investigating and remedying issues as they arise which could have an adverse effect on the function;
  • Provide line manager support and oversight for those involved in reporting and MI processes.
  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with experience in team management and managing a wide range of projects, across multiple workstream teams and stakeholders of different levels, cultures, and across Global, Regional and Country operating models.

To be successful you will need:

  • Thorough understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviors, processes and objectives.
  • Well established understanding of the financial services landscape and competitor developments.
  • Experience working in Insurance is desirable.
  • Experience working in Risk is essential.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of the Group’s Risk Management Framework (including reporting requirements) and experience in the management of non-financial or financial risks is essential
  • Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal communication skills; the ability to negotiate and influence networks of matrixed stakeholders to manage stakeholders to one global solution.
  • Knowledge and experience of being flexible and adaptable in an environment of constantly changing priorities, challenging bureaucracy and staying true to the values and strategy of the Group.
  • Strong analytical background and proven ability in analytical rigor, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions.
  • Insurance Expertise - Diverse insurance experience, preferrably covering a broad spectrum of risks including insurance risks, financial risks, compliance risks, operational risks, etc..
  • Risk Stewardship - Thorough understanding of the role of a risk steward and how the risks of an insurance manufacturer can materialize considering direct impact to the entity and its clients / group.
  • Reporting Writing - Developed skills in writing enterprise risk reports for audiences at various levels.
  • Risk Articulations - Ability to understand risk concerns covering the broad spectrum of risk taxonomy and concisesly describe risks and concerns.
  • Risk Escalation - Highly developed understanding of risk escalation protocols and able to transform concepts into practical and sustainble control actions.
  • Governance - Deep understanding of effective governance in a large and complex organisation, covering dimensions at the management level, board level and parent / subsidiary levels.
  • Business and Cross Functional Partnering - Engaging stakeholders and working together within business and or other functions effectively to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Significant experience in enterprise risk management and risk reporting roles, preferrably in a large-scale insurance organisation.
  • Ability to lead change, influence and actively drive performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders and collectively grow the business while minimising risk.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry and regulatory environment including current and emerging risks. 
  • Self-starter, independent with good communication and leadership skills.
  • Team player and high achiever with a positive attitude.
  • High level of personal integrity and values in line with HSBC core values.
