Global Investment Research, Wealth Strategist

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Global Investment Research, Wealth Strategist. 

This is a role for a high-performing team in GIR (Global Investment Research). The Global Macro Strategy team produces important flagship products that consistently have the highest readership in GIR, reflecting HSBC’s strength in many asset classes, especially FX. This is not a pure research or strategy role. We are client-facing. Our research is a means to service clients – both external clients and internal stakeholders. More specifically, the role will be important in delivering FX and multi-asset content views to HSBC’s global wealth and corporate franchise, alongside working with other GIR teams to create macro strategy views.

The role sits within the Global Macro Strategy pillar in GIR, namely FX Research, and will also be required to work closely with Economics and the Rates, Equity, Multi-Asset Strategy teams and Data Science to deliver broader the department goals.

As a GIR Wealth Strategist, the successful candidate will rely on both quantitative and qualitative analysis and takes into consideration multiple viewpoints in various asset classes. This is not an entry-level role; it requires experience in macro and market analysis.

Purpose of the job

•  Report to the Global Head of FX Research in Hong Kong, helping to formulate well-informed views, publish research, publicise our expertise to HSBC’s global wealth and corporate franchise; (ii) support other internal stakeholders through regular exchanges across HSBC’s platform, and provision of other ad-hoc inputs as required; (iii) service external clients directly – handle bespoke requests, participate in calls/meetings/seminars

•  Be an integral part of the Global Macro Strategy and FX Research franchises

•  Be an integral part of the Global Investment Research

Skills/Experience Required

•  Produce regular FX and multi-asset content based on HSBC’s Global Investment Research Views, including timely market commentary, event previews/recaps, and thematic pieces relevant to HSBC’s global wealth and corporate client base. There is also scope for the role to take on greater institutional client exposure. 

•  Create weekly video content to translate research insights into clear, client-ready messages, ensuring consistency with published views and agreed narratives.

•  Present FX and multi-asset views internally and externally, with a primary focus on Wealth and Corporate businesses — supporting client conversations, investment/hedging decisions, and broader market education.

•  Collaborate across global teams and businesses to broaden reach, using multiple channels so research insights land with a wider audience and have measurable impact.

•  Actively gather feedback and work with key stakeholders to refine content, prioritise topics, and improve usefulness and engagement.

•  Excellent communication skills required, including written and presentation in English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.
