A core focus is communicating market views clearly - through investment publications, presentations and client engagement. You’ll work closely with investment teams and Alternatives colleagues to share and debate views and support cross-team collaboration. Success means delivering timely, high-quality insights that portfolio managers and stakeholders can act on and building a recognised profile as a trusted narrator of market trends.

What you'll be doing

  • Produce top-down research on global economies and financial markets to inform portfolio and investment decisions
  • Create clear written outputs including contributions to Investment Weekly, Investment Monthly and the Investment Outlook
  • Deliver presentations, commentaries, blogs and white papers that translate technical views into actionable insights
  • Partner with investment teams and Alternatives colleagues to share perspectives and facilitate constructive debate
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and events to present market insights to professional investors
  • Build and maintain research, AI, analytics and risk frameworks that support the team’s qualitative and quantitative agenda
  • Embed operational risk awareness and comply with internal controls, relevant rules and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles

What we're looking for

  • Bring substantial experience as an economist or strategist within a central bank, finance ministry, research consultancy or financial institution
  • Apply strong cross-asset knowledge and a clear understanding of macroeconomic drivers across equities, fixed income, commodities, currencies and alternatives
  • Produce high-quality investment writing and visuals that explain complex concepts clearly for internal and external audiences
  • Present market and strategy views credibly to a range of stakeholders in multiple formats
  • Use data and research methods effectively to interpret economic and market developments and inform investment views
  • Work with common market and productivity tools including Bloomberg, Refinitiv, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Operate effectively across multiple work streams and deliver to deadlines in a fast-moving research environment
  • Travel as needed to support client and stakeholder engagement

Strengthening Our House View

If you want your research to influence real investment decisions and shape how clients think about markets this role offers that platform. You’ll work at the centre of HSBC Asset Management’s strategy debate contributing insights that are shared across investment teams and with clients globally. The work spans multi-asset strategy publications and live engagement with stakeholders who rely on timely clarity. If this scope matches your experience and the impact you want to have we’d welcome your application.
