HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) is a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Within CIB, Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that help clients mitigate risk and enhance their business performance. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments, and multinational corporations, this team covers fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Director, Head of Governance & Strategy.

Ready to shape governance and product strategy for Global Trustee and Fiduciary Services?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

Global Trustee and Fiduciary Services (GTFS) sits within Markets and Securities Services and acts independently of other business lines to ensure the best interests of fund investors are met and aligned with independent fiduciary obligations. As Director, Head of Governance & Strategy you’ll be a key member of the GTFS Leadership Team, shaping product strategy and strengthening product and risk governance across a global business. You’ll set a clear strategy and roadmap for GTFS that aligns with HSBC and SSv objectives while reflecting an evolving regulatory environment. Working closely with colleagues across Asia and Europe you’ll ensure strategic change and risk-mitigating initiatives are delivered effectively across product and operations. Success means a scalable product roadmap, clear governance and documentation that stands up to audit and strong partnership across SSv to support growth and risk management.

What you'll be doing

  • Shape and maintain the GTFS product strategy and roadmap in line with HSBC and SSv objectives
  • Define and maintain an investment plan that supports sustainable development while addressing the GTFS risk environment
  • Identify new and enhanced global product opportunities, aligning roadmaps to market needs and corporate direction
  • Establish and strengthen GTFS product governance policies in step with the wider SSv governance framework
  • Enhance risk documentation and oversight across the GTFS global offering, reflecting legacy contracting and regulatory change
  • Govern product change control and approvals for new product launches, maintaining complete records
  • Maintain up-to-date standard product artefacts including the Target Standard Model, Product Catalogues, standard pricing and client sales materials
  • Manage remediation activity to support risk management and mitigation across the GTFS offering

What we're looking for

  • Bring in-depth knowledge of securities markets and associated market infrastructure
  • Apply a thorough understanding of the funds industry, particularly Fund Services and Trustee products, within an evolving regulatory environment
  • Demonstrate substantial experience developing product strategy and roadmaps within a complex global business
  • Establish and run product and risk governance frameworks including documentation standards and audit-ready record keeping
  • Partner effectively with product managers across GTFS and SSV to maintain compliance with legal, regulatory and industry standards
  • Produce high-quality written materials and deliver clear presentations for senior stakeholders and clients
  • Support client engagements such as pitches, RFPs, due diligence and negotiations with strong product input
  • Manage product P&L performance by monitoring key contributors and supporting periodic profitability health checks against financial targets

Setting GTFS Direction Globally

This role offers the opportunity to shape how GTFS governs risk while developing a clear product strategy and roadmap that supports sustainable growth. You’ll work across regions and with multiple stakeholders to strengthen product oversight, improve documentation and keep pace with regulatory change. If you’re looking to make an impact across product governance, strategy and commercial outcomes in Global Fund Services and Trustee, this role is a chance to do it at scale.
