Commercial Banking – Corporate Banking
Hang Seng’s Commercial Banking (CMB) business provides customized one-stop financial solutions to our corporate customers, from small and medium-sized businesses to large publicly listed companies and conglomerates, as well as institutional clients.
Corporate Banking is one of CMB’s key customer segments, where we offer a comprehensive range of services including corporate lending, trade and receivables finance, structured lending, cash management, investment, treasury services, insurance and e-Banking services to corporate customers conducting business locally or around the world. As a reliable financial partner, we attend to the specific business needs of our customers and provide efficient tailor-made banking solutions through our relationship managers and dedicated specialists.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Director, Corporate Banking, reporting to Managing Director, Head of Corporate Banking.
Principal responsibilities
- As a member of Corporate Banking management team, drive and contribute to Corporate Banking’s business strategies.
- Lead and develop multiple relationship management teams to achieve the respective sales/income targets and deliver best-in-class service to Corporate Banking customers.
- Works collaboratively across boundaries: partners effectively with product, risk, operations and coverage teams in both Hong Kong and Mainland China to deliver the best client outcomes.
- Maximize portfolio revenue contribution and market share by new business acquisition, deepening and expanding current relationships, and cross referral to achieve growth of customers’ total relationship with the Bank.
- Drive a high-performance culture with care — setting clear expectations, developing our people, coaching leaders, and sustaining engagement and resilience as we navigate a changing, challenging environment.
- Embed a strong risk and conduct culture across teams, ensuring all relevant control measures are undertaken to minimize risk exposure and maintain full compliance with internal and external policies and regulatory requirements.
- Exercise total quality management to continuously improve productivity, streamline process and enhance service quality.
- Champion Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) to build inclusive teams where different perspectives are valued and performance is strengthened through collaboration.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with strong Mainland China market exposure, demonstrating in-depth market knowledge, sector insights, and a strong understanding of business culture and client decision dynamics.
- Proven ability to drive high performance with care, building accountable teams and delivering results under changing and challenging market conditions.
- A proven track record of originating new-to-bank opportunities and deepening existing client relationships particularly in Mainland China corporate segment.
- Strong technical know-how in terms of facility structuring, provision of advanced financial solutions as well as offering tailor-made financial instruments.
- Demonstrated D&I mindset, fostering an inclusive environment and leveraging diverse perspectives to improve outcomes for clients and colleagues.
- Strong growth mindset, with a track record of deepening relationships and cross-selling across a strong asset/portfolio base to grow customers’ total relationship with the Bank.
- Strong risk and conduct discipline, with evidence of leading teams to deliver growth responsibly, maintaining high standards of customer outcomes, compliance, and control.
- Sound judgment in credit decision and maintain a high proficiency in credit risk management.
- Holding of valid insurance and investment licenses.
- Fluent in Mandarin, with strong proficiency in English and Chinese
- Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
