The Role

HSBC Group is constrained by capital and regulatory complexity can create inefficiencies across the Group and legal entities. This role sits in Global Treasury and focuses on identifying and delivering capital optimisation that improves returns (RoTE) and supports the Group’s strategy. You’ll bring deep subject matter expertise across capital requirements and apply it to opportunities across Asia legal entities while working within a global remit. Group Treasury is the 1LoD owner of capital risk including Double Leverage (DL), Leverage, MREL and other regulatory requirements. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders across Group Treasury and Finance OpCos as well as Global Business and Risk teams.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as a Capital/Treasury SME for Global Capital Optimisation with strong understanding of key regulatory regimes (e.g. PRA, HKMA and other Asian regulators)
  • Build networks across Global Finance, Global Business and entities to understand constraints and identify optimisation opportunities, with particular focus on DL and major legal entity positions in Asia
  • Run capital deep dives across HSBC subsidiaries using diagnostics and MI to identify levers across CET1, RWA, Leverage, legal entity and funding
  • Size opportunities and filter options against HSBC policies, appetite and practical operational considerations
  • Build business cases and secure funding where required including cost-benefit analysis, payback and EP/RoTE impacts
  • Establish detailed requirements, ownership and implementation plans with stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Risk and businesses
  • Run workstreams to compile initiatives, track delivery, unblock issues and escalate where needed while providing SME input through implementation
  • Support technical advocacy topics in Asia and contribute to wider capital risk management activities including capital policy, regulatory change, ICAAP and Treasury change projects

What we're looking for

  • Bring deep expertise in capital requirements with broad SME knowledge across Treasury topics
  • Demonstrate proven experience delivering end-to-end capital optimisation from identification through to benefit realisation
  • Apply strong knowledge of key regulatory regimes including PRA, HKMA and other Asian regulators
  • Show experience using diagnostics and management information to identify and quantify optimisation levers (including CET1, RWA, Leverage, legal entity and funding)
  • Demonstrate capability building credible business cases including cost-benefit analysis, payback and EP/RoTE impacts
  • Evidence effective stakeholder management across Treasury, Finance, Risk and business teams including senior committees
  • Demonstrate experience managing and delivering change programmes particularly regulatory change
  • Be Self-starting. Able to identify optimisation without prompting

Capital optimisation across Asia

This role connects capital expertise with delivery - turning diagnostics, deep dives and stakeholder insight into initiatives that improve capital efficiency. The focus on Asia legal entities means work will regularly engage with key regional regulatory regimes and local constraints while operating within Group-wide priorities. You’ll help shape and execute optimisation that supports returns and the Group’s strategy. If this scope matches the work you want to do we’d welcome your application.
