Private Banking Department - Private Banking and Trust Services

Hang Seng's Private Banking provides services for people who have successfully built their asset base and now want to place their wealth in the hands of experts who know how to nurture it. 

Our banking services and products are bespoke, ranging from tailored investment advice and capital solutions to holistic health and personal protection and trustee services. Our team offers professional wealth management advice at both a local level and on a global scale. 

Should you join our Private Banking business, you will focus on building close relationship with our high-net-worth customers, providing professional advice and premium service to them and contribute to the profitability of the Bank.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Business Risk Management Manager, reporting to Head of Business Risk Management.

 

Principal responsibilities RBW

  • Support the Head of Business Risk Management to maintain and enhance a robust business risk and control framework to enable effective oversight, control and monitoring for Private Banking and Trustee, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Group/Bank policies.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the business risk and control framework for Private Banking and Trustee activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective risk management controls; lead periodic reviews of control procedures and monitoring programmes to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
  • Design and implement policies, procedures and controls to meet Group and regulatory requirements, balancing customer experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead/coordinate non-financial risk matters including regulatory engagement, audit and assurance reviews; ensure timely closure of actions and sustainable remediation.
  • Establish governance routines; chair/organise business risk control meetings and provide clear risk reporting for management oversight.
  • Partner with frontline, product/project teams, risk stewards and operations to drive and execute WPB/PB strategic priorities and initiatives in a controlled manner.
  • Promote and embed sales conduct and operational risk culture through best-practice sharing, coaching and targeted training.

 

Requirements

  • University graduate with proven banking experience, with exposure to risk control and relevant qualifications.
  • Strong sense of ownership to complete regular/ad-hoc assignments 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as risk/control awareness; able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under minimal supervision 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to prepare executive-ready materials and facilitate governance forums/steerco discussions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills; able to maintain strong relationships with front office, engage risk stewards and other stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Ability to embrace change and work under pressure, managing competing deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese; able to prepare written materials and deliver in-house training 
  • Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
