The Institutional Client Coverage team in Hong Kong is a growing and exciting segment within HSBC. We are a product agnostic group in charge of managing the relationship with our clients, understanding their needs, their industry trends and ensuring HSBC supports them in achieving their financial objectives. The ICG team covers a wide array of institutional clients including Banks, Insurers, Sponsors, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Asset Managers, Hedge funds and Public Sector.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate.

In this role you will:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the client base
  • Provide assistance to coverage team members
  • Undertake appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services
  • Ensure prompt and appropriate response to customer enquiries and concerns by liaising with product and support teams
  • Liaise with regional counterparts acting as central point of contact for local matters.
  • Contribute to the compilation and implementation of individual client plans to enhance regional and local returns
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including product partners
  • Undertake the preparation of relevant analysis, proposals, credit applications and reviews as required
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal & external rules, regulations & procedures
  • Act as the First Line of Defence to protect HSBC against Financial Crime and to ensure credit risk arising from the relationship with the clients is proactively managed at all times

 

To be successful you will need:

    • Strong knowledge of the institutional client market, including relevant local and global regulatory requirements
    • 3+ years of relevant experience in institutional coverage, markets, securities services, or a related financial services role
    • Solid understanding of Markets and Securities Services (MSS) products and how they support client needs (e.g., custody, clearing, collateral, financing and related solutions)
    • Demonstrable capability in identifying, assessing and mitigating key risks, including Client Due Diligence (CDD) and financial crime risk considerations
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence senior decision-makers internally and externally
    • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach and strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Resilience and adaptability—highly motivated, able to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure
    • Consistently upholds the highest levels of integrity and acts as a role model for HSBC Values and business principles
    • A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and performing to high standards

    It would be advantageous if you have:

    • Experience working with banking and/or broker clients
    • Knowledge of HSBC’s Group capabilities and products, and an established internal network across relevant business areas
