Associate Director, GDM Middle Office, Markets & Securities Services

Role Purpose
This role is within the Debt Markets Middle Office function within MSS Operations.
The team is primarily responsible for proving regional support to the APAC trading desks across multiple Fixed Income products, including Derivatives, Cash Bonds and Secondary Loans.
Functions include:
- Ensuring Timely Trade Capture for Trading and Sales team
- Real time risk management
- Trade Data enrichment and repair
- Life cycle event processing
- Query management
The team is also:
- Escalation point for Operations teams onshore and offshore
- Escalation point for Operational issues for FO Business Management, Trading and Sales teams.
Principal Accountabilities
- Creating and leveraging strong working relationships, front to back, regionally and globally,
- Flexible, with the ability to resolve issues under tight deadlines as this is a constant changing environment.
- Ability to drive large scale transformation change initiatives including design & delivery of automated solutions to optimize processes and improve levels of STP,
- Manage day to day relationship with front to back teams including Change Management and Technology, working collaboratively to continuously identify and improve processes which strengthen the overall control environment.
- Ability to identify risks and issues and escalate appropriately.
- Work within the Operational capabilities framework and HSBC values.
- Provide excellent client service both internally and externally.
- Delivering quality service, independent control, operational risk safety and cost efficiency.
- Assist in building out a global and robust set of controls in line with the GM Control Framework to ensure the overall success of Middle Office TOM design and implementation.
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
- Excellent technical product knowledge of both linear and non-linear Trading is required
- Must have experience of running compression cycles with a strong understanding of P&L, risk & margin impact
- Experience of real time risk management in either Summit, Markitwire or Global Calypso
- Previous experience of team leadership, coaching and supervision essential, as well as leading and representing Operations in large investment programmes.
- Experience in implementing system demise or operational transformation of trade booking workflows.
- Prior and current understanding and experience of regulatory initatives and programmes of change at an industry level.
- Strong awareness of Operational risk and associated controls impacting the front to back process.
- Becoming the main point of contact for trade lifecycle related queries from infrastructure partners.
- Working with wider front to back teams such as Sales, Operations, Product Control and Market Risk to improve break and query flow; ensuring a good working relationship is established across all these teams
- Lead process improvements - recognize inefficiencies or gaps, recommend improvements and help implement new processes
- Relevant experience of dealing with senior Front Office stakeholders, preferably from a trading floor environment.
