Role Purpose

  • The role will report functionally into the China Liquidity Sales Head located in HK.
  • The objective of the role is to continue to establish and successfully execute on a liquidity sales strategy for institutions head quartered in China (mainland China and HK) in order to maximize profitable revenue for the AM business.
  • The role will manage existing and originate brand new liquidity client relationships with a focus on Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) International Mid-Market Segment, Global Corporates, Institutional Clients Group (ICG), and IVB. In addition, the role is expected to establish collaborative relationships with AM’S internal Bank channel partners and external partners including Third Party Portals and Platforms.  
  • The global liquidity fund range encompasses a broad range of solutions ranging from HSBC’s flagship AAA rated Short-term Money Market Fund solutions to in-country local fund ranges and separately managed account structures. In total, given the global network of the HSBC group, the global liquidity business manages and sells $190bn in AUM across 10 currencies.
  • The role will work closely with colleagues across AM’s Global Liquidity Sales, Investments and marketing teams as well as Institutional “long only” colleagues selling the longer term institutional sales capabilities of the AM group (insurers, pension Funds and Family Offices and Charities/ Endowments/Universities for example). 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Design and implement a Liquidity sales strategy to the market segments and opportunities described above
  • Drive sales and AUM growth of global liquidity solutions
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships and partnerships with key clients with a focus on increasing wallet over time
  • Create profitable AUM growth through consulting with new clients to solve their investable cash problems through the full range of  HSBC’s Global Liquidity capability range.    
  • Represent the Global Liquidity business in internal senior management reports and forums, as well as external conferences
  • Spearhead key account planning exercises including assisting with setting and implementing strategies for key clients with global team, logging of call reports etc

  • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy

 

Qualifications

  • Solid working expersince in instituitional client coverage, either in Asset Management, Global Markets, or a Corporate Banking or Corporate Treasury or Cash Management/Treasury Services sales and sales management role focusing on China market.
  • Possess in-depth familiarity with China’s full spectrum of cross-border investment regulatory regimes.
  • Exposure to and good understanding of treasury/cash/short-term investment management products.
  • Strong client engagement, presentation and negotiation skills; able to independently handle client pitching, deal-negotiation and relatiomship maintance.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (must), fluent in Cantonese is a plus.
  • Self- motivatied, target-driven, with good cross-team communication ability and travel to mainland China regularly.
