Through SME Business Banking (BB) our global network offers comprehensive support and services to businesses in the SME market. From expanding overseas to managing the cash and trade flows of an established enterprise, the Business Banking team of Relationship Managers and Product Specialists provides a range of end-to- end solutions designed to help small businesses reach their potential.
The role of the Relationship Manager, within our SME Business Banking segment, is a full relationship management role to engage with our existing and prospective customers to help them realise their ambitions. Your key aim as a Relationship Manager with HSBC will be to operate as a person of influence to our customers with a Turnover of between £2m and £15m, where you will also be responsible for customer service excellence to our existing and prospective customers.
Customer portfolios will consist of both domestic and international relationships and will involve managing all aspects of the relationship including operational and credit risk. To be successful in this role you will create and maintain strong and evolving partnerships internally and externally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage an existing portfolio of 50-70 clients, focussing on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
- Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
- Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards.
- Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
- Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community.
- Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime and regulatory risk.
- Collaborate with product partners to assess needs of international and domestic customers and offer appropriate solutions.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Experience of working in relevant environments, i.e., Business/Corporate Banking, Financial Services is essential.
- Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs, generating complex lending both monetary and applying appropriate products and solutions to help customers realise their goals is essential.
- Experience of leading and delivering excellent customer service and proactively looking for innovative ways to improve this service is essential.
- Experience of building effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
- Comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes would be beneficial.
- Self-driven with the ability to manage conflicting priorities, managing your diary and work collaboratively to deliver to deadlines is a must.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – and an ability to influence and negotiate effectively is essential.
This is a hybrid position with the base location being flexible between Cambridge and Norwich. This role requires an element of travel for client meetings, mostly around the Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk region depending on base. It is therefore important that the successful candidate can travel and is within an easily commutable distance of these regions.
