Head of Enterprise Risk Management (f/m/d)

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced leader to join HBCE as Head of Enterprise Risk Management. Reporting to the HBCE Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and the Global Head of ERM for CIB & HSBC Bank plc, you’ll drive a proactive, enterprise-wide risk management framework across HBCE, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a robust risk strategy, optimising risk governance and aligning with the risk appetite framework.
• Lead forward-looking risk management, including emerging risk identification and stress testing.
• Oversee the creation and execution of emerging risk reviews, collaborating with stakeholders to establish mitigation strategies.
• Communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, shaping risk governance and providing regular updates to risk committees.
• Foster collaboration across HBCE Business and Functions, including Climate and ESG risk management.
• Lead HBCE Branch CRO teams, ensuring efficient risk management for both financial and non-financial risks within EEA branches.
• Establish and manage reputation and ESG risk oversight programmes for HBCE’s second line of defence.
• Design and implement the permanent control function, ensuring comprehensive coverage and regulatory compliance.
• Deliver complex data integration projects and support KPI implementation across risk processes.
• Ensure regulatory expectations (ECB, ACPR) are met by working closely with stakeholders across all lines of defence.
• Orchestrate a multiple disciplinary risk ecosystem spanning financial and non-financial risk domains. Driving cross risk aggregation, robust challenge, and consistent risk appetite articulation at enterprise level.

Skills & Experience

• Proven enterprise risk leader in a regulated European banking environment, with direct supervisory authority engagement and experience leading country-level CRCO’s across multiple jurisdictions.
• Leading regulatory remediation programmes and delivering measurable risk reduction.
• Expertise in enterprise risk frameworks, including risk appetite design, calibration, and governance across multiple jurisdictional entities.
• Evidence of driving cultural transformation embedding accountability, strengthening control environments, and building high performing, empowered risk teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills both French and English preferred.
