HBCE ESG Risk Generalist (f/m/d)
COURBEVOIE, 92, FR, 92400
Job description
Being part of HSBC in France, you’ll help evolve and grow our business.
Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub-function within Group Risk and Compliance. Its mandate is to ensure HSBC understands, monitors, and effectively manages its non-financial risk profile by providing end-to-end oversight of key processes, risks, and controls. ERM also maintains robust stewardship of the Bank’s risk appetite, ensuring alignment with risk, business, and regulatory priorities.
ERM strengthens risk culture across the organisation by applying effective policies and governance frameworks that promote consistent risk management practices across businesses and functions at global, regional, and market levels.
The HBCE ESG and Reputational Risks team sits within HBCE ERM. As part of Enterprise Risk Management in HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE), the team develops deep capability in ESG risk management, risk stewardship, as well as the assessment of reputational risk, working across both non-financial and financial risk frameworks.
Are you analytical, structured, and comfortable working with data and multiple stakeholders? Do you enjoy driving end-to-end processes, improving ways of working, and presenting clear outcomes to senior audiences? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you!
What you will do:
As an ESG and Reputational Risks Generalist Advisor, you will support the Enterprise Risk Management function in strengthening the Bank’s ESG risk oversight and delivery. You will contribute to the design and the implementation of ESG risk frameworks, support key risk processes, and help ensure high-quality management information and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
You will work closely with a broad range of partners across Risk, Sustainability, Compliance, Finance and the Business at Global and Regional level to ensure ESG risk considerations are appropriately assessed, documented and communicated.
In this role you will:
- Maintain ongoing oversight of EU and global regulatory obligations applicable to ESG risk management, ensuring requirements are monitored and interpreted consistently.
- Analyse and interpret relevant laws, regulations, supervisory expectations and industry guidance affecting ESG risk; support gap analysis, impact assessment, and the definition of remediation roadmaps (actions, owners, timelines, dependencies).
- Support end-to-end delivery of ESG materiality assessments, including methodology input, development of templates and practitioner guidance, coordination of contributors, analysis of outputs, and consolidation of results into decision-ready artefacts.
- Oversee the ESG controls environment by tracking control issues, remediation actions and key risk/control metrics; assess how metric trends may influence the bank’s ESG-related targets and risk appetite.
- Develop concise, technically robust presentations that translate complex ESG risk topics into actionable insights for governance forums and senior stakeholders, supporting effective FLoD embeddedness.
- Contribute to updates of regulatory and internal ESG reporting, ensuring consistency, completeness and end-to-end traceability of underlying data, assumptions and methodological choices.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across processes, controls and data quality, including standardised templates, streamlined ways of working and improved documentation.
- Partner with stakeholders across functions to promote awareness and consistent application of ESG risk frameworks, methodologies and control requirements.
- Support the execution of key ESG risk management processes, including planning, coordination, documentation and quality controls.
- Support the Reputational Risk Senior Manager by providing analytical input on ESG-related transactions/deals, including risk considerations, documentation and escalation where required.
You should apply if you have:
- Good analytical skills and the ability to review, structure and synthesise a significant amount of data
- Good communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written materials and present messages clearly
- A proactive, organised mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Fluency in French and English
Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you.
